Not trying to be rude but I am going to have to now. George did a way better job than what you guys at PGI made here. This intro's speaker is a joke. You guys pretty much created an amateur speaker who sounded like crap.
Heres the intro to what George and all did and compare it. I personally love George doing the speaking at least he makes worth listening.
<--- This would've been awesome for MWO as a Faction Play intro.

Yepp.
You know, the first thing that disappointed me in MW5 beta happend just ~30s after I launched game from epic client.
The first thing I saw was low-poly environment with KGC in the middle in the start menu instead of proper CGI trailer.
THIS IS IMPORTANT, this is the first impression that player gets starting the game. Especially in single player game.
And now, looking at this trailer... Well, yeah, I would be ashamed to put it into the game too.
Like, hello 90s?
BT intro was SO MUCH BETTER than this.
HELL, EVEN MW4 MERC trailer looked better.
PGI had literally 3 years. I am sorry, but why does it look like it was done by some student on the weekend?
Oh, by the way, I have to give a credit to PGI. The previous trailer (the walkthrough video) was actually quite good. They should make a cut from it instead of this.
Have to agree: If I had to rate the Mechwarrior/Battletech intro trailers, this one would end up at the bottom of the list. Voice acting does not excite anyone and the introduction into the game is very generic and lacks action. Did the Epic store take all the epicness for itself?

Yeah, you know, the student was supposed to do it, but in the end, he/she had to stay up all night to do some wiring on some 1990s 'Mechpods, and so he/she couldn't be arsed to actually get the job done.

For me it was high poly and looked decent.
My issue is it was a still image. The Terminator fan game has a similar opening screen but it looks considerably better even using a placeholder model instead of an actual terminator.
Note the HK tank in the background and the occasional pickup speeding by it.
I honestly hope the beta we got is like.... REALLY unpolished. Menus, UI, mechlab, mech customization and audio (mostly ballistic weapons) could use a massive overhaul. Also, some mechs are slower than source or unexplicably faster for the time.
And I might regret saying this, but MWO has a better UI & Lab compared to beta, not even a contest.

In my opinion the audio and especially the sound of the ballistic weapons is fantastic. And I do really hope they don't touch it as long as they don't find a way to make it even better.
Honestly I am not imressed.
I'm glad they are making a single player campaign but i'm afraid its just gonna be boring...
So far i havent seen anything that realy gets my blood pumping.
Story? Interaction with NPCS?
In MW4 Mercs the banter between Specter and Castle was priceless.,.. not to mention Duncan fisher... I hope we also get things like that, it relay sets the tone.
Past games have had better intros. Battletech's intro by HBS was not that good either. It still had a compelling story. Maybe MW5 will borrow from how Battletech manages NPC and Missions? We won't know until the official game is released.
We do need to keep in mind that Mechwarrior 3, 4, and the MechCommander Games were produced by the mighty Microsoft. They even employed real actors for their cut scenes. It was really cool regardless of the acting quality. I loved the talking heads scenes from MechCommander 2. The game engine was also used to great, if not comic, effect to generate footage for the INN News segments. I loved it! I am sure that PGI has no where near the budget Microsoft threw at the Mechwarrior franchise.
I just hope this intro does not attest to the tone of the game.
Check out the column of urban mechs from MechCommander 2.
