I'm not into camos, but any sale is nice...plus I stopped some fool from posting "first" like its still 1994 (all those comments should be moderated, they add nothing to the conversation)

what if you get extra stuff for representing your house in faction? right mech + right cam = stuff (etc)

Great idea. It's one of many missed opportunities in which MWO could and should have leveraged the lore.

That wouldn't quite work. Sure, it is simple for the Davions who have their Davion Guards livery or the Steiner with their Lyran Guards livery in MWO. These are among their most elite units. Great.

But what about other factions?

• Example: Somebody is a fan of House Marik. But he does not want to use the livery of the Free Worlds Legions (relatively unknown short-lived unit) on his 'Mechs, so he simply paints them in the white, purple and black livery of the Free Worlds Guards brigade (the oldest and most famous units of the Free Worlds League Military). And he does not have to buy any patterns since he can re-create this livery just with one and two colours.
  
• Example: Somebody is a fan of House Kurita. Okay. But he does not want to use a livery of a Ghost regiment on his 'Mechs because he does not want to be associated with Yakuza criminals. So he simply paints his 'Mechs deep red to represent a Sword of Light regiment. You can not say a word against it.

When I buy a Kurita pattern, do I have to buy it only once to be able to apply it in every mech or...
Do I have to buy it for every model? (Spider, Assassin, Annihilator...)

You unlock the pattern for each model separately. So you can apply the Kurita pattern on every assassin you own, but not on other chassis'.

So to unlock the Marik pattern (representing an average unit which I do not even especially like - both the pattern and the unit) on some 10-12 'Mechs, I would have to spend approximately 10,000-12,000 ?

you can always go for oneshots instead. They're much cheaper. Of course you can apply them only once. They are discarded if you change the pattern (and save).

I'll never understand why permanent camos don't apply to all mechs we own, not just the variants of one mech. You could probably charge a bit more for the base ones, and would still sell a crazy amount of them.
