You would think they could just...idk...make the HUD change depending on which view you were using? I never remember having issues with older MW games and the HUD if switching between FP and TP.
Can't wait for someone to mod the HUD back to something better.

Way too much hope is riding on mods to bring this game to something resembling a polished product.
If the modding community does even 1/10th of the work on MW5 that it has done to HBS Battletech, there is still some hope.

I think that video is riding on a lot of events scripted and also some of the visuals done in post-production. It isn't completely full gameplay.

Maybe they have. I don't know. The logical way is how you've suggested it. Different layouts for the 3rd and First person view switching seamlessly between the two. I remember even old games like Jane's Combat Simulations had enlarged HUD in 3rd person view with a slightly different layout. Then again, that game made sure that we could change a lot of the HUD elements with hotkeys.

It's to do with the track record of the company I suppose. We've seen many decisions taken for MWO be next to terrible. The hope here is that UE4 is pretty moddable and in the AMA's, there was plenty of talk about how the community to change a lot of the game. So, we could get a lot of cosmetic mods quickly with gameplay stuff later while getting new mechs as well.

Doesn't matter whether it's scripted or not, it presents a better picture than the final product.

They aren't delivering the game editor on launch. They are requiring a new MW5.exe to be compiled for each mod instead of allowing a simple asset swap with the existing game. They are relying on old-school external community file sharing to distribute mods, and ultimately relying on the community to make the tools that make using mods less painful than they would be if PGI wasn't doing mods the way they are doing them.
I have no doubt that a dedicated group of modders can turn MW5 into Mobile Suite Gundam if they really wanted to, that's not the point. The point is that PGI is under-delivering against expectations that THEY set. They have been showing us and talking to us about a better game than they are ultimately giving us. No VR, RTX is not available on launch and will only be in the MechLab, absolute trash last-minute UI to accommodate third person (not that the 2016 one above couldn't also do third person, note the lack of minimap in the center), disabled inverse kinematics (again), reduction in visual fidelity for particle effects and lighting...all on top of the borked mod support. And we haven't even gotten into the sh*t-show that was them advertising for Steam while wrapping up talks to go Epic and also not planning on telling anybody about it until two months before supposed release.
It's all very sour.

Have you not been watching ANY of the videos? It's not in there. The 'Mechs are still floating on inclines.
Navid A1 modded it back in already...after learning UE4 for literally 4 days.

Yeah, that video paints a better 'cause it isn't full gameplay. It's like Final Fantasy games for e.g., I'm just saying. PGI should've definitely kept that UI for starters.
I'm not arguing against you at all. A lot of the aspects in that video look better. But in a lot of instances, due to lack of expertise in making things work inside a game, a lot of features get cut or half-implemented. When that decision is taken, it's 'cause it's too late to bring in knowledge in terms of new people to make it work. It could be that the game designer decided to implement some features and it works to some extent, but when it comes down to optimization, they don't quite have the full grasp on it and with the time constraints, there isn't enough value to make it work if other, more sure-fire things, are also in need of work.

IK is definitely in game. It's the visible terrain vs the actual terrain where the floating occurs.
I've watched a lot of the videos, but not his. Tbh I would more likely start playing the demo than watch a video unless it has something of interest.
also - sauce?
