So-called Steam variants.

30% C-Bills bonus (like Hero 'Mechs) and special camo pattern (Hotrod for the Cauldron-Born and the Grasshopper; Phranken for the Zeus and the Masakari).

Good use of the IS names ;)

I love teasing Clan trashborns with the use of Inner Sphere names for their 'Mechs. Posted Image

They hate being reminded of their inferiority ...

@PGI... suggestion... since the pick a prize mech has a hot rod camo scheme.... include a hot rod warhorn with it

So it seems to me that every PUG pulled his Clan 'Mech filled with nothing but LRMs from his hangar.

Usual challenge ...

Oh, well.

Be a smart boi.

Run mechs that can equip AMS. Earn extra match score by Iron Dome of AMS.

Happens every Xmas event, legit. It's filled with LRMboats trying to farm score. So if everyone puts a single AMS on, you're laughing.

Do not worry. I am running 'Mechs with (twin) AMS, sometimes with extra onboard ECM "for added frustration". Posted Image

I know that they had Hotrod camo, but I remember that on one occassion they were offered with Phranken camo. Claim one and see what camo it will have. Now it seems that it is going to be Hotrod for all. Sorry.

There were two sets of Steam Performance Packs, with different mechs. The first set used Phranken, the second used Hot Rod - and mechs in this event come from the second set of packs.

Exactly.. the first year steam packs had the thunderbolt and timber wolf for heavy mechs and the king crab and dire wolf as the assault. Also as I said already, the last pick a prize loot bag event had the mechs from the second year pack (being the light and medium options) also.

Any recommendations for the grand prize mechs?
I already own 2 Grashopper-5H (laserboat and HPPC), no idea for a 3rd config. Great mech, if someone doesn't have it, get one.
The Zeus6T I also have, with MRM20s instead of the SRM6a, but I don't like it.
Have a Warhawk Prime, the usual quad erppc one.
Don't have an Ebon Jaguar. Is it any good?

You can try it for yourself. The Cauldron-Born is a Trial 'Mech this month.

Not terrible, and it is an omnimech.

Ah, thanks, I'll do that. I rarely look at the current trial mechs. :)

"Not terrible" isn't really convincing. Posted Image
Main omnimech qualifications:
- Can't change engine
- Can't add endosteel/FF (this one has both already)
- If any of that is already mounted, expect the fixed slots to be limiting (this one has blocked legs/CT/head)
- If you invest in more omnipods, you might find a hardpoint combination that you can work with. It likely won't have any quirks though. :)

Hmm. Maybe as a laserboat as suggested on grimmechs.

I guess you could always take the Warhawk, plop on the -A right arm and -B left arm and do 2xUAC-20.
But, since you're taking the core of WHK-C, you wouldn't get the CT structure bonus found in WHK-PRIME and WHK-A .

If nothing else, you can still see it in the game. That is more than you can say about the Fenris or about the Hellfire.

So the Cauldron-Born is probably not that bad, if you can find MechWarriors piloting it.

What's the post-Christmas customer appreciation gift this year, or does PGI not appreciate its MWO customers anymore?

That's a lousy way to ask for free stuff.

The Ebon Jag is a very good mech with good hardpoint locations. The arm hardpoints can be a little off-putting at the start but will get easy to get accustomed to. Two good loadouts would be..

2 LPL + 6 ERML. Runs hot but incredible pinpoint laser burn. Just alpha strike and relocate to cooldown and get ready for the next alpha strike.

1 Gauss + 6 ERML. Another great pinpoint damage and runs cool.

Other strong contenders are UAC 10 + MPLs or UAC20 + MPLs. You could do LBx instead of the UAC for slightly less burst damage but it's more reliable.
