Please, for the love of god, could you guys fix this?

I had this happen twice now (and funnily enough, the pick-up point was _also_ on the other side of the valley).
Seriously, if this would be the real BT Universe, Ryana would have eaten a bullet, after I came back to the Leopard right then and there.

I ran into a funny thing yesterday myself.

I was on a campaign mission with the big city, and there was a clear path over a slope between two big rocks. I wanted to take it, as it was the most direct route from the farm to the city, but alas, I hit a nice big red force field. Big shock for me.

So I had to go all the way around, where I naturally ran into more enemies.

Talk about a "whoopsie" in therms of hand-crafted maps. When you forget mechs have jump jets and can actually navigate slopes even without them.

I think I know which map you're talking about, been there 2 of my own campaigns and one co-op, (so 3 times in total) and never remember its a 6 sided angle map, can't go straight, have to walk around.

seems to be the only map like that, just that one campaign

Oh yah lets park our invaluable dropship right next to the enemy where it can get shot and damaged, maybe even irreversible what would make leaveing impossible and even if you can leave make repairs so expansive that we as well might quit beeing mercs all together.

PS: That is why I hate that the enemy does that even more. You don't go down right into the enemys face at that time the game takes place and espacialy not if you are a merc. Some houses might care less but even for them a dropship should be something valuable.

I wouldn't have a problem with walking a bit in, say, an assassination or raid mission.
[Edit: somehow forgot to type: "But this is a Warzone Mission."] That means that the enemy will drop reinforcements on me the whole time I try to disengage.

Besides, I have been dropped off in a hot LZ plenty of times, so quite obviously, there isn't all that much problems with that.

Note: Yes, in a "realistic" game, this wouldn't happen, but in such a game, there wouldn't be limitless reinforcements either.

I am starting get tired of the pick-ups, always being 800-1500m out.

also, most times I have to go through enemies, to get to it, so why can't I make additional C-Bills like War Zone contracts, if you're going to make me wade through 1-3 lances of enemies anyway ,so allow me to make more c-bills along the way, or just place that drop ship where I am at. at least 200m max

I think it'd be nice to be able to summon the dropship to you. I'd be fine (and insist) that this come with the risk of the dropship taking costly damage, but sometimes it's either I get picked up or I'm dead.

I'm sure half the time I have been dropped in a Hot LZ, personally prefer it happen that way, so why can't I be picked up in one ?

something I had seen early on, was the Dropship had LRM's, because none of my lance had them and saw LRM's launched at the enemy, happens when dropped in a Hot LZ

While the loadout the Leopard uses in game isn't the same (as it has 4 PPCs)...

The armament of a Leopard.
2 x PPCs
3 x LRM-20s
7 x Medium Lasers
5 x Large Lasers

Its weaponry is standard class, so no orbital bombardments or anything like that.

Tabletop armor values (capital class)
Fore: 14
Sides: 13
Aft: 10
Tabletop armor values (mech scale combat)
Fore: 140
Sides: 130
Aft: 100
MWO/MW5 scale armor values
Fore: 280
Sides: 260
Aft: 200

So it wouldn't exactly have staying power, and it would reveal some really bad flaws of the PGI design (each of the Leopard's mech bays are mostly sealed off from the ship to protect from incoming fire, there's a complete lack of the aerotech bay which would be deployed to escort and protect the leopard during drops, MW5's version is MUCH bigger than Battletech's version [a necessary evil; MW5's mechs are a lot bigger than Battletech's mechs], etc.).

But, it'd provide some serious firepower and allow you to retreat. Enemy AI should probably break off pursuit once the Leopard starts firing.

While I'm not gonna fix formations or anything of the like, I'd be happy to arm the dropship with the full assortment. With help, I'd love to further modify it. I could use a command to tell Ryana to bring in the dropship (support run) which would bring them to an area I point out for a very brief period... and a command the dropship to set up an LZ, where any pilot getting close enough to the dropship will be evacuated. If the (main) player does so, then the mission is abandoned for partial pay based on what was accomplished and potentially a ranking hit. Sometimes it's more important to keep what you have than to lose it entirely, especially after my weapon mod as after revamping the salvage system, when you find LostTech it's ******* precious gold.

The use of the dropship in this way comes with further implications.
If the dropship is destroyed, it's game over.
If it's heavily damaged, it wouldn't feel right if everything looks normal on the inside.
Etc.

The best part is that yes, that was a human-designed mission. Just know in advance to bring Jump Jets and you're good to go! Posted Image

Experienced another dropship shenanigans moment.

The map I was on was basically a large bowl. The nav points were all on the other side of the map, and then when I finished the mission, the dropship landed on top of a ridge that I had to walk all around the map to get to. Half way back and around the enemy base, basically, full circle around the map, all because I had an Annihilator without jump jets.

Luckilly, I did well do wasn't too banged up when the waves of enemies kept dropping for the entire time I was rear-torso dragging at a blistering 32 Km/h..

It took me like 15 minutes to retreat back to the dropship..

The biggest problem with the mini-map is that you can't really tell which area you can walk through and which not. it doesn't clearly show elevations..

seems any of the Canyon maps , it's like that.
and the drop ship will always be 800m out for pick-up, and I swear, if I'm missing a leg .. it's always 1300+m out
