You could leave Map Selection, but currently we all know when certain maps come up they get chosen every time and other maps you play once a month lol.

Random Maps and Modes would be perfect

Rather fight it out on Polar with ERLL vs knowing there are going to be 6+ LRM boats.
You should be able to choose your load out to match the engagement or else you just get more Nascar... Why wouldn't you want to choose your loadout? Without choice most people won't run certain builds because there is a massive chance they are bad for the map chosen.

I would support the random map selection as it used to be.

This is already happening.
Do you know why you do not see in the game as many LRM-armed 'Mechs as you used to see? One of the reasons is that the majority of players has realized that with the high probability people will vote for nascaring-friendly maps such as Canyon or Hibernal. And since they are going to nascar around the central rock on Canyon or on Hibernal where LRMs are the non-optimal choice since you will be more successful with short- and medium-range weapons, they are not using LRMs.
I am not saying that this is the only reason - surely there are many factors.
On the other hand, hot-running laser boats are still quite popular and I would guess that one factor is that many people know that almost nobody will vote for a hot map such as Terra Therma, so they will not be punished for taking a hot-running 'Mech..
So the map selection has already big influence on the 'Mech use and armament.

This would put beginning players in a serious disadvantage because your average novice player does not have a big selection of 'Mechs available to him. What does he have? Two or three 'Mechs bought for C-Bills earned through the grind and Trial 'Mechs with loadouts dating sometimes to 2013.
On the other hand, a veteran player has dozens of 'Mechs with all kinds of loadouts available.

I didn't know that hmm. I was gunna say a different game mode but the small community is already pretty split up with the existing.

I get that and it's tricky with such a small player base or else I would say only put cadets w/ cadets until they played X number of games like Rainbow 6 etc. Or better SBMM because Tiers are a joke in this game.

I don't know, the current setup just doesn't make sense. Every other game, even when they let you choose your map, lets you choose your load out for said map. FP is awesome fun, but its the same people, same groups, and tbh no new player should go in there without a few solid decks. Maybe just remove the map selection to add variation and that would in turn change up the builds and play styles.

PGI should release map selection stats. I would say Polar beats out most maps most of the time. Terra Therma and Caustic probably least chosen. No one chooses any green maps. Feels like Snow/HPG > Crystal/Rock > Green > Hot. Maybe it wouldn't get so dull if it wasn't the same 3-4 maps on rotation everytime.

As it turns out; people really aren't all that interested in having to play around the heat mechanic.

Actually, I vote for Terra Therma every time it shows up.
And the new Forest Colony is one of my favorite maps.

Sure personal votes from active forum members aside, I think you would agree it loses to other maps majority of the time. I just think it would be cool to have random map rotation.
*I also enjoy the new forest colony map, though Ive only gotten to play it a few times unfortunately compared to other maps.

It's called Quick Play for a reason. It's instant-action mode.
What really needs to happen is to remove voting altogether and simply pick maps and modes at random.

There are plenty of moderate-temp and high-temp maps that are voted for frequently. Heat is absolutely a factor, but visibility and layout should not be underestimated.
For example Tourmaline and Oasis are pretty common hot maps but Mordor and Cancer Valley are quite rare, suggesting that the latter are objectively badly designed maps that suck to play on. At the end of the day, I don't think there's anything wrong with bad maps being played less than good maps. The solution is to make better maps.

Meta vote
and save your multipliers
Plus with the T1 skill gap one can do well on most maps with most builds
Plus you have FW if you wish to specialist per map basis.

It would just turn into a LARGER LRMFest on longer range maps than it already it.
No one wants that.

It might......or it might end up being completely countered by people stacking multiple ECM/AMS or massed lightsabers at 1100m completely negating LRMs....I dont know, I could go either way on a mech select after map select. Would actually allow me to potentially play something other than a fast(er) dps mech that can keep pace with pusha pusha pusha nascar.
