The effects were better too back then I swear. It was a good thing that knock down was removed though, it was far too glitchy with 'Mechs teleporting around after being struck and on the ground or standing back up.

Are you really sure that you want to be taken out of the action for ~5 seconds every single time one of your teammates bumps into you?

Well the post did say "Not Really" in the beginning, but it would be funny if they brought it back for a weekend or something. Especially with how people can't manage to get out of spawn without taking damage now a days lol

If not for general play, then how about add it to Solaris?

And if we can't have knock down can we at least add actual collision damage when enemy 'mechs run into each other?

That's really NOT a hard add, it's one f'ing "if then else" statement for christ's sake, yet PGI...

A few tweaks could've made this work-able, me thinks. To simply scrap it was not a good move.

It is sad that PGI has never managed to implement physical attacks in MWO.

Stunlock is cancer.

The reason we don't have IK/knockdown is mostly due to desync.

Curious I thought desync just meant that instead of twist, turn, accel/decel being tied to the engine they were tied to the chassis so how does that stop them from having knockdown?

Yes, that was called "engine desync."

In online gaming desync generally refers to movement or action that is registered or rendered incorrectly between the server and or clients.

Yeah but that exists in most online games depending on server tick rate and user connection speed and latency. Doesn't stop other games from implementing systems around it.

Most FPS are not as heavily server authoritative as this game.

This mechanic can be really abused, though if PGI brought it back and made arm weapons fireable while getting up it'd make arm mounted weapons mechs more viable.
