Solo with tiers worked fine in the past, there is literally no reason to reinvent the wheel when it was working fine before.

The problem with matchmaker is that it is so unable to balance groups in any meaningful way- unfortunately your suggestion would end in another worst of both world scenario.

Solo with tiers, group queue without, never the two shall meet, 90% of the problems of the last three months solved in a single change.

I disagree some what.
Group Queue needs Tiers and match making too if an early demise is to be avoided like before with that queue.

Instead of messing with solo queue and merging it, they should of looked at why group queue was dead (skillgap MM etc) and fixing that queue rather that rekking solo queue with the merge rubbish to fix group queue.

GQ was plodding along fine the last few years, up until MW5 was released then it got slow as many folks went to play that. Then, last May, when Russ announced maintenance mode and no more new mechs the population dropped like a rock and within two months the queue was effectively dead then literally so. When they gave us 8v8 for that short glorious time, drops during NA prime time had no more than a minute or two of wait times.

GQ didn't die because of skill gap (all the regulars knew what they were getting into. From the comp level groups to the casual after work groups. Folks just wanted to play together.) it died because first Russ said the game was effectively dead, and then Paul made it a reality.

Im talking the last year or so, you know since its been a dead queue, how long dat been?
Only populated a few days a week queue, dat one.

If it wasn't skillgap, why all these groups suddenly return for soup queue, why didn't they stay for group queue.
Must be they returned for the Solo Seals of Soup Queue. Big Heroes. Big Suprise. NOT!

Typical types want to dominate others without risk in solo queue/Faction, when they must risk their cahonies in group queue or comp queue and cannot dominate without risk they fact off, showing their true form.

We had 8v8 groups queue in April of this year.

A lot of the groups I've seen were around in solo queue but had resorted to sync dropping as there weren't enough to make group matches.

Others returned to get fast games with their friends in soup. Some are still around, some have already left.

It was Paul's "findings" from that very short lived 8v8 test that directly lead to PGI deciding to combine the queues.

Anyone else remember the options for game type only? Skirmish,conquest or assault? Good times were had and sadly missed. Soon enough we won't even have na,eu or ocn server check boxes. You'll get na only or can only and like it.

My bad, that 8v8 queue was so successful I missed it.
Now I remember that one with the nice pictures.
Group queue died I guess nothing came of it.

Edit: And Bud that new 8v8 group queue thing was just last month.
Group was dead way before that for a longish time.
Also why was 8v8 even discussed?
Was it because Group queue was a robust picture of health or was it because it was a shell of its former self, only populated on Friday and Saturday nights, if the talk around the traps is correct.

Solo queue was a picture health in comparison until it got rekt by a merge.

I am glad, that i am back to tier 1 again. The tier 3 soup was awefull. Yesterday in EU prime, when enough tier 1 tier 2 where online I got perfect matches. Rjf vs emp/evil/mj12 etc. mixed with some good solo pugs. Resulting in 12 vs 11 and 12 vs 10 outcome. Maybe just luck, but I rarely had such quality games in qp before.
