I haven't played the game in a very long time, at least a year. Can someone let me know what changes have happened?
I already tried doing a group drop with 5 players and discovered that you have to drop in groups of 4. What else is different?

There a handful of new maps, a bunch of new mechpacks too. A couple of new modes and they've really revamped community warfare. Solaris has kicked off and really making strides, it's particularly popular with the streamers. It's all been buoyed by the success of MW5 on Epic and the future is looking pretty bright.
There's been some solid adjustments to MM too, you should find games are super balanced with weight too.

Yep group q is gone because the population is low because they haven't improved anything in over a year.
There are some cw changes because of the same reason.

Solo Queue and Group Queue have been merged in May 2020, so pre-made groups (up to size of four players) are now free to harvest casual solo players to improve their stats.
The old PSR system has been abandoned and all players moved to the mid-Tier 3 in June 2020. Now your performance in every game is measured against the performance of the remaining 23 players (with the victory bonus added for the members of the victorious team). In simple words, your PSR can go down even on win, if the enemy team had some very well performing players who will move up then. Now it is more difficult to see your PSR move up, just because you were part of the winning team.
Other than these two things, there is nothing new in MWO: No new BattleMechs, no new maps, no new equipment, no new features ... Well, I guess you get the idea.

"New" player returning back to MWO after many years, and having a blast!
Playing just after the PSR reset early July.
(Played for a little during the founder package days, but left MWO alone for many years).
From a "new" player with no emotional baggage of "what happened before",
MWO is great to play, and lots of fun!
Actually procuring premium packages to make up for the lost time
(BTW, I'm here to have fun, don't care about my PSR rankings, especially compared to those with years of MWO under their belt).
