Because I'm back in Tier 1.
As an (at best) 70% ish player according to jarls, I don't believe I belong there.
With about 500 matches in since the reset, I figured I'd be mid t4, maybe t3.

What went wrong?

It was a temporary solution to solve an ongoing problem.

They need to figure out how to better introduce a tier system or just introduce a ranked system based off of individual performance.

I'm not far off of 1 now, and similar skill.

I think it comes down to I'm 70% factoring in grinding 0 skill mechs, playing ocassional very non-meta and "fun" builds. Playing seriously and with less crappy builds, I do do a bit better and that is obviously enough to keep grinding away upwards.

The people who should be in 4 and 5 are... and are sufficiently salty about it that I'm happy it works overall.

Speaking of expectations, why, as a player that got a quite stable 260 avMS in the past months, against average Joe at 222 avMS, did you expect you to land in T3-4?
Sure, it is not exactly expected that you hit T1, but there's many things that may have an influence here.

Working as designed. This outcome was predicted by several people during the presentation and discussion of the alternatives. Even the propenents of the system knew it would go blind over time, and now we already have people stacking up against the max and min psr despite being nowhere near the best or the worst players.

There was finally a chance to push for a better matchmaking algorithm and it was completely blown because of buddy politics and stupidity, and here we are.

Jarl's isn't accurate, just because, yeah, AvgMS has some correlation with skill, but doesn't fully represent it, as 100MS in a match against bad players and 100MS against good players - are two completely different things. As pure WLR MM such AvgMS MM would work only in "All vs all" situation. We had such situation before new PSR, but now we shouldn't have it.

P.S. Bad quality of matches during current event almost dropped me to Tier 4. Players don't like this event?

Not sure why anyone would think it would "fix" anything. To date, PGI's track record for "fixing" things got us to where we were to begin with.

I dunno... maybe playing hundreds of matches during the trial champion event ?

Welcome to Tier1 :)

Jarl says you're 84% overall. Your average matchscore this season puts you at about 1500th which translates to top 13% of all players. Why on Earth did you think you belonged in tier 4? You're out performing 87% of the entire playerbase so far this month.

It's merged queues that completely wreck any semblance of a tier system. You can't have a "ranked" mode where one team can have 4 tier 1 players and one team have one or none. In regular solo queue with a half decent MM, those players would have all been split up. 3 tier 1 vs 2 tier 1. But instead, now the players get to control how teams are made. Not MM. The PSR system is literally pointless as long as you allow groups to drop in it.
