Have drop ships drop mechs near front lines, but far enough away that parachuting or jetting mechs can't be picked off. I hate games where you just 'spawn' on or behind enemy lines like you have a magical deployment system. This is something I've wanted to see in many other FPS's but have only seen in one, BFBC2, but you only drop in from one control point but there is no plane object actually dropping you.

depending on how big a battlefield is, create a random generated dropping system that can analyze enemy signatures and drop you and other respawning teammates in a nonpredefined area that cannot be predetermined by spawn killers.

Could do it in a similar fashion to Section 8, where picking a good spot to get oneself dropped off is almost as important as being good with the shooties.

I agree. fixed spawn points are a recipe for a quick hard hitting mech to sneak in and take down mechs as they spawn from behind. no chance to defend yourself. random spawning points, preferably behind your friendly lines, would be an excellent idea, and I do like the jetting in aspect, where you are dropped with a disposable rocket pack to a point. Also, a 15 second invulnerability (at half top speed of the mech) might also be nice. of course if you fire your weapons, you forfeit your invulnerability timer.

They definately need a dropship model in the game.

Computer calculated drops sound a bit difficult to pull off / a lot of work. Most dropships have weapons, they should be able to use them to clear lurking enemies from the LZ

Also, what if mech pilots inside dropships could fire one of the dropship cannons? Then you could defend your dropship as it lands :)

This would be a good, and simple feature for immersion. I don't know if I like the random factor, other than randomly within your LZ, but all in all a very good idea,

Why cant the drop ship be used as a Mech Lab and Repair facility and take out the mobile labs all together.

I wouldn't mind insertion via dropship, but if you get slagged you should be done for the round.

Insertion via dropship, and I vote that if there IS respawn, 'Mechs spawn inside their dropship and any 'Mech that steps inside XYZ range of the DS gets lit up with the DS's LRMs, PPCs and ACs.

I would really love to see Dropships used as both your MechLab and your insertion point Vehicle combined with your choice of LZ(once you have Star or Lance commander status that is) and with drop ship damage!! , it is therefore at your own risk or at the missions risk if you drop into a hot zone and risk your mech lab/Drop ship/home being damaged or destroyed with massive repair bills to discourage frequent use.

I believe also that your mission either end when you destroy all enemies or when you have gotten back onto your drop ship, taken off and out of enemy firing range. no really fast mech smah and grab and run home to mummy, what kind of warfare is that? the better realism the better the game immersion and addiction! look at MW3 etc

I'd like to see a dropship as part of a mission. The mission starts with the drop ship landing your your mechs piling out as your opponents arrive and try to take out the drop ships. The drop ships would provide fire support for an unequal sides battle. Could be pretty cool.

I actually want the ability to have them be player driven.

But they've already stated peripheral vehicles will not be included *sniffs*

the nice thing about the drop ships is:

1. Gives new players something to kill (and still be helpful to the team)
2. Allows your team to advance more quickly (who wants to wait for the Atlai to catch up?)
3. A nice break from the ground pounding/alternative for gaining some XP
4. Kinda fun to air raid mechs, allows a commander field view without losing fog of war for Clan/Team battles
5. Stop spawn killers by moving spawn points (and keeps action going as well).

I'd kind of like to see field commanders be able to choose where to land, say, a Colossus, and then have it be able to provide some sort of defense while sitting there, giving players a firm point to spawn from. On top of that, I'd like to see lances/individuals have the option to use something like a Leopard to swoop in over a specific area and drop in case spawning in the Colossus isn't viable. Both drop points could be chosen World in Conflict-style to give players a fairly-sized area to pick from.
