i want to say thats when rubellite oasis dropped. but im probably wrong.

that holiday dip and spike seems to be a recurring pattern, but its bigger for some reason that one year.

i think the spike could mostly be attributed to pgi actually developing their game. new tech, new maps, a few events. people have argued it to death in the other thread, i forget which. some digging into old patch notes would reveal the actual occurrences through out that period.

April '18 saw the inception of the Solaris 7 game mode, along with the Fafnir, S7 Heroes Pack. May '18 dropped the Blood Asp and the Solaris City map.

People really liked solaris map that much?

Whenever I drop there, I'm like "this claustrophobic FPS nuker again"?

I dropped there in a flea once, and I swear that it should be the proper size for an atlas. I swear, either the map is too small, or the mechs are too god damn big. Imagine how better the maps would be if mechs were smaller.

idk it had a nice theme to it. i just wish some of the ramps and chokepoints were positioned better. and i cant stand waiting for 12 slowpokes to file through a corridor so narrow a locust feels cramped. and maybe some of the holographic effects performance optimized.

also a lot of people asked for that map. they were practically clattering on russ's door demanding a new city map.

Theme isn't the problem. It's the size of the map relative to the mechs. I swear Styx is a better city than this.

Also the FPS nuking.

typical pgi inconsistency. they should have a sampling of fps readings on it and other maps on different hardware to try and establish a performance baseline, and chop or detail accordingly (in this case, chop).

Solaris was fun for the first 20 or so drops. But then it became a death sentence for most light mechs. All the other mech would do is back up against a wall with clear line of sight and there was nothing a light pilot could really do. Maps were too small. And it got repetitive and repetitive and absolutely worthless.

In the history of Expansions or "Rebranding" Solaris 7 is probably rated as one of the worst. Did absolutely nothing for this game.

I'm not sure how much people actually liked it, but there sure was excitement. As long as I can remember, people have been requesting a "proper" city map.

im not quite sure it delivered. it looks nice and it is a city, but whoever thought that super narrow chokepoints everywhere was a good idea needs to never be allowed to do map design again.

Nothing wrong with the map, MWO mechs are grossly oversized.

you have to admit the map could be improved a lot by moving some ramps around.

though i do admit they went in the wrong direction with the rescale. community wanted a few mechs scaled down, so pgi did the "logical" thing and made all the other mechs bigger.

I agree.

When I drove in that flea, I realized what the city should feel like for a god damn atlas.

That's when I started I think.

It was the free Nova-S(C) at the time that brought me in.

People expect the map to adjust to them not the other way around.
To me
That's just weird
