Out of all the top suggestions listed at the end of that document, I can say that only two of them would even slightly make me consider coming back.

The things that interested me the most are the recommendations to lower the price of many of the items available in the store and what we can do to get new players into the game. I have a couple friends who never got into mwo back in its prime because of the cost to play and buy mechs. I feel like if some of these new player changes were made, I'd have a chance to get some of them into the game and that would motivate me to hop in and guide them.

Solo Q with group-solo Q opt in would be an improvement.

This is an ancient idea, but, when you talk about all of those map problems in different game modes , seeing what map is going to be used an then choosing your mech would be an improvement. So everyone has the opportunity to run faster mechs for the base capping mode, for example.

Ideally, it would be swell to have a drop deck of 4 mechs, and then you choose what mech goes in based on mode and maybe map.

During the cast our focus of conversation was 8v8 Group Queue, not 8v8 Solo Queue. Solo queue is in a decent place with 12v12 and I don't think it really need to move away from that. As a side note, the game was designed around 8v8 originally, then expanded to 12v12, so to call 12v12 an 'original format' is incorrect.

Since the rest of your post is all around the fear about 8v8 solo queue, i don't think i need to go into it further. As far as growing the game population, it is absolutely possible as long as A) PGI puts in the work to get it done and B ) The community doesn't chase people away due to their own frustrations with the game.

By original, I meant "uncommon" (my limited english).

I am not convinced the current packs are "too expensive" as most other games are charging ridiculous prices for in game items.

Perhaps just increase the frequency of "deals/sales"
