Thanks for the advice, those are good for the ones in a hurry to get to tier 1.

In my case I'm in no rush. At the beginning of the year before the tier reset and new system to change levels I had been stuck in tier 1 for too long. I even had another account which was tier 2 and I really took things slow, because I knew that when I reached tier 1 the general behavior of the teams would somehow decay the enjoyment of the matches.

This last change that PGI finally implemented I've seen was one of the best they have done to bring sense into playing MWO.
You now get evaluated mostly individually to go up or down in the tiers. So if you lose because your team was bad and you did well you still get to climb just a bit. The same goes if your team won and you helped little, there's a deserved a draw back then.

I've seen tiers 2 or 3 are the sweet-spots of the gamePosted Image, there is a chance of matches to be interesting, before you fall into the top tier and things rarely change because everyone got accustomed to do the same over and over again...

So, wouldn't want to be in 1 too fast because I know what's waiting for those who reach it. Posted Image

By far the weapon most responsible for undeserved tier ups is LRMs. They have an extremely low bar of entry to use, don't need much suitational awareness or positioning to be able to hit the enemy.
As long as you can hold your mouse on a target you can farm with LRMs.

If anything with the smaller playerbase and lower skilled pilots being pulled into T1 more often, its easier than every to clutch in a light.

When was the last time you saw a light kill 4 or more mechs and win in qp? I've not see anyone post in the fourms recently of a video or screen shots of doing so. Also what was the light and build? Clans have a far greater chance of doing this than is. The most likely is mech to do so are the stealth fle/lct hero as most other is lights just arn't able to fight that number alone as they require xl.

Grinner is pretty good at it, anything doing around 120 with quick weapons like pulse lasers or srms will carry games if you aren't stacked against good players. Thanks to the MM, if both teams are equal and not "true" t1 material a bit of speed will get you all the positioning you need.

I did last night. OSR-4D w/ 6 MLs.

The forum isn't for boasting.

I disagree, there is a reason why the Wolfhound and K9 are looked so fondly upon.

If you're exposing so much in a light that you're getting shot, well you're doing it wrong.

^ Yup gigantic and comparitively slow Clanner Lights are usually not anywhere near as threatening as the far more survivable Inner Sphere variants. The Piranha is about as durable as a wet napkin caught in a nuclear explosion and that's the premiere Clanner Light imo. You have to play Clan Lights as half dead Mediums and never, ever leave cover far behind.

Some of my very few 6-7 kill matches were in the Grinner and K-9, they're ridiculous mechs, even in the non-meta, subpar fashion I build them. MPLs and a little trigger discipline can go a long way when you're in mechs that everyone ignores for some reason.

"Oh that light has more armor than a lot of mediums and is shooting everyone on my team in the back, better ignore him til last after he's farmed half the team." -What I imagine goes through the typical player's mind whenever they sit there ignoring myself or other Urbie/WLFs for entire matches, as they shoot at literally any and every other target, even sticks, first.
