Just had a MechWarrior match and the chatter is as follows,
Lumberjack1. "Nice legs on your mech there '***'"
Lumberjack2. "Thanks, I just shaved."
L1. "You missed a bit on the back there, might wanna wax it."
L2. "Nah. I'm grown it long for corn rows."
L1 "Sweet. I do that with my armpits so when I make fart noises you can hear the beads jingle."
L2. "Good idea!"
They did sound like genuine lumberjacks and I had to wait a few minutes for my tears to stop so I could play.

That's one of the things I love about the MWO playerbase - most folks are great to play with.

In-game chat is interesting. Either everyone wants to talk or no-one does. For example, if I'm the first on my team to detect an enemy, I call out "contact, H8" or whatever. If no-one responds, I can be pretty confident no-one is going to use voicecomms. On the other hand, if everyone is talking back and forth, calling targets, reporting where they're going, stuff like that . . . that team usually wins.
