Hell I still see cadets running trials in T3 matches when I know there are T1s dropping in groups in the same match - if that's all the better the MM is going to be then there's really no point in attempting any balance at all - may as well just go back to beta where it just threw the first x amount of people into a match regardless of tonnage or any other metric.

Just to jump in quickly on this point. This is supposed to happen very sparsely. The 2-tier range of matchmaking does not mean that when you are T3, you'll see T5s and T1s in the same match. That would be a 4-tier range for the T5s and T1s alike. It rather means that T3 can either be drawn into T5 matches OR T1 matches.
There maybe exceptions, of course. Very low population times may (this is not a 100% sure thing) open the matchmaking valves. Also, Groups of T1s and T5s together can get drawn either way. But both are not the common situation.

It happens during both EU prime hours and NA prime hours, can't say but imagine also Oceanic which probably has a lower pool yet. Basically the MM is barely functioning.

I don't debate that it may happen. The question is how often? And in what constellations? Screenshots of the team stats would help to she d light on this issue.

With cadet + t1 groups, I've only seen once or twice but it should literally never happen.

Not too uncommon to see T4-T1 in the same match. Just by names I recognize off the forums that post their tier, how many other times it happens with players that hide their tier just so people can't have an easy time seeing the MM is doinking them is probably fairly regular.

Next time I see a cadet one though I'll try to figure out screen capturing again, haven't really been that kind of gamer in quite a few years.

It's easy PRNT for the standalone client and F12 for steam.

Do you still have to tab out into a image program and paste/save it? It's really been that long since I've done that.

Print Screen works with steam client as well

Nope.

Prt Scr saves screenies to your computer to folder something like this C:\Users\yourusername\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\ScreenShots

Steams F12 saves them to Steam folder with damn long path.... but those can be easily found from Steam clients main window -- View --> Screenshots.
From Steam you can upload them to steam and share those, unfortunately this ancient forum doesn't support steam style urls for embed pictures but you can just paste url...
like this.

Alright, thanks for the information. The older I get the less I dig into that sort of stuff and am fine with just being able to play a few different games at my leisure.

I'm using my discord server to upload images there and then use the URL from there to post them on this forum, because you need an URL with a proper image extension like .jpg or .png

Yeah I know how to go around that but it is annoying that we have to do that when we already have imagehosting site that our pictures go pretty much automatically if we use Steam client.

I can even use direct link to steam image --> https://steamuserima...576DF69966E046/
and forums understand and draws that picture well but when Add Reply/ Preview Post it says "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community."

So basically it's just FU from devs that are not allowing it really, not even because forums are so old and couldn't support this format.

Doesn't the right click option for copying image url work? Or is steam's url behind some sort of login required path?

Why do people think there will be an mwo 2? Eg7/russ have made it clear there won't be. Highly doubt any other developer will go hey mech warrior is available;we should totally make an online pvp mech warrior game. It is microsoft that owns mw not eg7/russ.

Well there's hope I guess. Also there's a modder starting/trying to work out 4v4 in MW5 - that might be a decent start of a push.

nope, steam doesn't work with standard extensions and the [img]-format only accepts links with proper image extensions.

There may not be the time to have a MWO2....

See it's us Gen Xers that have the Robotech (and Gundam) Nostalgia. That one thing that makes this universe stand out. Generic stompy robot #3 will never match a Warhammer, or Rifleman, or the beloved Urbanmech, for us mechdads. For the newer kids, they werent there, cooing with their friends in school about the new Valkrie toy that just got released, as we rushed home together to watch the next episode of Lin Minmay being an annoying girl-thing. You kids just wont get it. So when us Gen Xers retire, who's going to be there to pick up the torch?

Sure Battletech is experiencing a bit of a revival because GW is upsetting their fans, but the TT is not what made us fans. The TT was a vessel of our fanship for the cartoons, and toys. But to those new players, I think they just want the dakka. They dont care about your Urbanmech. They will be fine with Generic stompy robot #3. And you dont need to license an IP to make that.

So that gives us maybe 15 years tops on the far end before I could see anyone willing to remake a MWO. And on the short end... well we still have MWO. MW5 was just released, and since it didnt include team deathmatch, that ship has sailed. So now I dont think it'll be viable to make a 'better' version until both these games are dead and buried, which could be another 10 years. So that gives us like a 5 year spread where another game is viable, in like a decade.

Hopefully it happens, and it will be something amazing, like a persistant world MMO where you can drop into an ongoing war, that never ends. Something like Eve or Rust but with many planets and even more missions, so that both the casual weekender and the sweaty try-hards can both play together and make a difference, or a name for themselves..

One can only dream, But it's going to need somebody who wants to see that dream come true, and it's going to have to be one of us, as a mechgrandad, to do it.

Pretty much have to use imgur (or similar) to get Steamshots onto forums.

There was something better! HAWKEN, and NO ONE supported it

We NEED BT Lore if we are going to keep MWO alive for the foreseeable future. Its what keeps bringing new blood BT Fans to the game in addition to people who like mech games.

Hawken was really fun.

Referencing a post a few pages back, MWO2 is not a "cursed problem", it is a hard problem. It is about funding the game, and managing to market it to a new generation of players. It is doable, just not easy.

MW5 and HBS' BattleTech have done pretty well. The interest in this gaming universe is real.

The key failure at the very beginning of MWO was never developing a meaningful strategy game, a.k.a. Community Warfare that turned into Faction Play. CW was the opportunity to leverage the players to create meaningful content and experiences through unified strategy map that would have involved resources, logistics, opportunity costs and some minimally necessary constraints. Instead, PGI leaned waaay too hard into the "minimal" of Minimal Viable Product such that it was not viable.

Had PGI embraced the vision of the original MPBT game and later aborted attempt by EA, this would be a very different situation.
