The situation is stale. Russ and PGI are asking for ideas for "low hanging fruit", those can bring them $$$ with minimum viable effort, they make podcast weeks after weeks because they haven't found one (yet), my thoughts is, they are not going to find one (because it just doesn't exist, no more easy money from the community after repeated disappointment since 2013) and they may realize it weeks or months later, and decided to shutdown the server at last.
As always, enjoy the game while you (still) can.

And by the way, if it's an official PGI info, then I would say that it should be posted by Daeron Katz in Developer Vlogs
And if it's just a fan made podcast, then it should be posted in Fan Art which is the place for fan podcasts and streamings.

Lets hope they manage to get there again!

This is what you're fighting right here. Every new map, every balance change, new tech, new modes, news mechs and events never really did much.
What can be done to flip this around?

The real question is, what makes you think PGI wants to "turn it around?" That steadily falling graphic represents years of bad decisions and poorly implemented "improvements." One would think simply by looking at the empirical evidence that they don't want to "turn it around" and are quite content with the way things are going.

My lazy Soundcloud transcript:
4:30 - minutes:
They placed new players at Tier3 in order to not have Tier1 players creating alt accounts and troll them at Tier5 matches...
Argument against starting new players at tier 5 or 4:
Everyone can create an alt account and go seal clubbing.
Starting new players at Tier 3:
You don't need to create an alt account to seal club.
Daeron working on it very hard and believes Tier 4.5 would be good for new players but there is internal debate / (resistance)...
14:30 - minutes:
Not enough population for separate group/solo queues.
15:30 - minutes:
Split up patches quarterly. Several updates (four?) in 2021. If population increases they may consider separating solo/group at some point in 2021. Open to discussion.
18:30 - minutes:
Too much talk not enough action but nothing is going to happen until 2021 so talk is all there is to do until then.
19:40 - minutes:
PGI has a process. They work slow and have a several month backlog delay before work on a new feature/suggestion can even begin. Their system has been developed over the past 20 years and is not going to change. "They do things the way they do. They have a process. It is what it is..."
23:30 - minutes:
Townhall meeting early December at the earliest.
24:00 - minutes:
"Can we get the Mackie?" No you can't... shut up about it!

24:45 - minutes:
Townhall talk about the remaining issues that needs to be hashed out and maybe comments from the devs.

If it was bad time to do an interview NGNG could have easily accommodated a later date.

The Thing is from Season 17 to 22 there is a significant Up-spike that could indicate a growth - every big downspike after that coincides with some decisonmaking...

As if there are scores of Tier 1 players waiting to club Tier 5 players ...
As it stands, Tier 1 players can club Tier 3 level players with Tier 5 skill level anyway; I am not talking about some average players, but about really bad players. Many of them are Tier 5 material who has not managed to drop to Tier 5 yet (typically because of playing infrequently).
Especially if Tier 1 players form a premade group before they drop.

Has not Russ Bullock realized how many old and new players left MWO because of that damned merge? How many players have left because they did not like to be food for premades?

Great! Firstly he drives away both old and new players with his merging of Solo/Group queue, with his abandoning of tonnage limits, and with feeding fresh Cadets in unskilled 'Mechs and horrible builds to premade groups composed of veteran Tier 1 players piloting optimized and fully mastered 'Mechs
AND THEN he wonders why he does not have enough players in MWO?

So another few months of MWO hemorrhaging players? Magnificent!

"They have a process." LOL
They will work on their processes until they find out that they have processes, but no players.
PGI is a small company, only slighly better than some indie company group. We are not talking about corporations with a big and convoluted corporate hierarchy like Boeing, Microsoft or Northrop Grumman here.

Better it should not be a Town Hall with two hours of meaningless talk.

WTF? I can't remember anyone on this forum asking for this junk 'Mech recently. (although I admit that maybe I missed some lonely voice). Why even bring this about?

edit:
To be fair it was mentioned jokingly by Daeron as someone (not me) has been bombarding him with questions about the Mackie.
