Hey, y'all!

There appears to be a problem with MWO and new Ice Lake processors. I was having that same problem, and this fixed it. I bet that's the case with a new Razer laptop, too. Funnily enough, mine died hard and would have needed ANOTHER total motherboard replacement in 3 years, so I got this HP instead of another new Razer. Here's the fix they sent me:

Hello there,

Could you please try the following workaround: https://www.pubg.com...ash-workaround/

Let me know if that doesn't help.

The PUBG link is dead, but we have a step-by-step solution thanks to resourceful users like MrVaad, Tarl Cabot and Ch_R0me. [/mod]

[FIX] Game crash in Intel 10th & 11th Gen CPU's.

Some players using Intel 10th and 11th Gen CPU's have been running into issues with the game crashing upon launch.

This issue is related to a bug in OpenSSL 1.2. Any game that currently uses this version will have issues, this includes Unreal Engine 4.21 which is what Post Scriptum runs on.

Until we have a permanent fix, we have a workaround that should let the users affected play the game. You can find it below.

Step 1. Open "Control Panel" by searching for it in Windows search bar, by pressing the Windows button or key.
Step 2. Go to "System & Security"
Step 3. Go to "System"
Step 3. Press "Advanced system settings"
Step 4. Press "Environmental Variables"
Step 5. Create a new "System Variable" (NOT USER VARIABLE)
Step 6. Enter the following into the Variable name box: OPENSSL_ia32cap
Step 7. Enter the following into the Variable value box: ~0x20000000
Step 8. Now press OK.

you may need to restart your system for the changes to take effect.

You can try to create a file to launch MWO with the fix inside it (it's what the intel link recommends)
something like LaunchMWO.bat with the following inside :

set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000
MWOClient.exe

Thanks for sharing !
It's a bug in the openSSL library with intel 10th gen or later cpus (and any cpu with SHA extensions)

Those cpus includes extension for the SHA algorithm used in openSSL. The bug has been fixed in the library years ago. But any software using an old version of the openssl library needs to upgrade.

In the meantime, here's the solution from intel
https://software.int...ion-update.html
But the tutorial from PGI's support (in Tulip Lee's post) is easier to follow :
https://www.pubg.com...ash-workaround/

PGI should put this on the main page, this can affect many players.

Can confirm that this works. I'm using an 11th gen Intel laptop with Iris Xe Graphics, and this fixed it for me. Thanks

Can confirm that this workaround fixed my crashing on an 11700K. Is there going to be a permanent fix in the future though?

Go to your MWO directory (where the MWOclient.exe is)
make a new textfile and name it mwolaunch.bat
right-click on the new file -> edit
paste the lines MrVaad provided into the empty file -> save and close
to run MWO, run the new MWOlaunch.bat

I think that it would work as well in Steam variant, by adding to command-line options this:

set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 %command%

Err... so exactly what is the problem this fix is trying to solve?
(I use a discrete GPU for our ThinkPad, so no idea what the problem is... sorry...)
