Hello to all its been an age since i played, I believe the Flea was the last mech out when i left, Just wondering which mechs since the Flea release are considered fun and good to use.

Obviously this is all subjective but coming back i'd love to see what people like mech wise these days.

Also as a extra which purchase packs after the Flea were considered must buys or just fun Mech packs, I do remember getting burnt on a few packs back in the day.. Looking at you there Hellspawns and Uziels...

It really depends on your playstyle so you'll have to wait for more people to give you information. For me, personally, I enjoy playing the MADIIC Scorch (2x LBX20, 4x SRM6+A with 50 sp in offense) and COR-7A (3x RAC2, 4x ML, 4x AMS+4ton ammo).

The Scorch (and Marauders in general) have very good front hitboxes and it's easy to wiggle out 600-800 damage taken from the front on any of them. You can also play it with ATMs or Gauss + ERLL + LRMs so it's pretty flexible. There will always be LRMs so the Corsair 7A with 4x AMS solves that problem for you and your team while they cower behind rocks for 8 minutes straight.

champion is tanky. veagle has a ton of pod space (atm boat is the popular one, but you can also run 5 uac2s). rifleman iic (base varient) has an hsl quirk that lets you fire all four lpls without ghost heat, and there is also a 6x ac2 variant. warhammer iic hero works as a pretty decent boom hammer (2xlb20+2xsrm6). i rest are kind of meh.

Here are my thoughts on the mechs released after the flea
  • Hellfire - mediocre chassis
  • Vulcan - 5 MPL (the 5T) is top of the meta in it's weight bracket, the Bloodlust Hero is like the ASN-21
  • Incubus - fastest clan mech in the game, decent Laservomit on the INC-4
  • Champion - very tanky, versatile mech
  • Vapor Eagle - the best clan medium, hands down
  • Evolution Pack - Charger and Hatamoto, sturdy chassis'
  • Warhammer IIC - packs a good punch, but moves very sluggish
  • Corsair - weird hitboxes, only 4-AMS mech on the IS portfolio, many good high-mounted options
  • Marauder II - bad and good geometry, rolls damage like any marauder-type, but the dorsal gun is a weak-point
  • Rifleman IIC - slow but good firepower, weak to disarming, excellent mid-longrange firesupport
  • Dervish - fun mech, good geometry, missile-heavy loadouts
Welcome back, Samial!

So i bought a champion, not really feeling it.. its all body and nose so you get cored in like 3 secs lol, even twisting doesn't really help..

I am enjoying my Corsair's though.

i hope you didnt put an xl engine in it. that's essentially throwing its tankiness out the window.

No i think i put a Light or its Default at this time.. I'll have to check if default was an XL but damn it dies fast in my hands haha.
Edit
Its a standard 300 @81 speed nice and fast but still cored in secs.

seemed to stand out for me, i have a quad ac2 quad medium laser build, and i think a 5mpl+lb10 build. the former requires a lot of face time and the latter is either a short range peak n poke or squirrel hunter. they work for me and rate high in my spreadsheets.

Yes i can but in a hour or so will be back in game then, thanks.
Edit

Here you go. It works pretty good but i think the guns require too much face time.

In trying out a mech to see if "it is for me", I usually dump 8 Skill Points (from GXP) into Operations, then work my way for all 91 Skill Points.

If the latter half of the skilling up process felt, "wow, finished already?" then the mech is for me.

If the entire skilling up process felt like a trip to the dentist, then the mech is not.

Sounds like the Hellfire is for you! :)

Worth noting that part of the weakness of the Marauder II is the built in arm actuators that prevent you from running the largest ballistic weapons. If you could disable them and fit UAC20's, it'd be a very different beast.
