Assaults are my favorite mechs. I love my Scorch. Nascar happens, but not all assaults move at 48kph.

Solo with slower mechs is hit and miss and a bit exposed to the vagaries of spawn points. I do better in slightly faster ones. MCIIs in the mid 60s are good. Blood Asp is fine speed wise.

Fafnir goes okay, largely because it puts out enough hurt that even if you get left behind you can save yourself. If the team choose to say rush tunnel on forest classic and you get left out... then you can have everyone on both teams insult you for not keeping up and that's fun I suppose.

I wouldn't sell them. Play FP, screw around in Solaris. It does make an EXCELLENT break from QP...

If you can't learn the maps well enough to effectively play an assault you might as well get rid of them.

I ended up mothballing a handful of whales, but I still get a kick out of uber dakka every now and then.

Looking at your stats youre a bad pilot too. A KD of zero point five really suckz. And thats not an opinion, its a fact. Just wanted to be nice to a noob. But youre not worth it.

I'm not the one who cried about assaults sucking and then got showed up by a guy with .5 KDR

OP keep crying and selling your assaults

you, don't care. niceness goes byebye when I tell you I don't care about your opinion, was never really there

If you really feel that Assaults are not for you, perhaps you can consider to play with Heavy mechs.

They have faster speed, quicker torso twist, and more agile in general!

They're worthless in a world of Nascar... That's all... I mean really its been so long since ive seen an Assault make a real difference in a match that's not on rubulette and that was a unicorn situation.

anybody else feel like Assaults are worthless nowadays too?

They are in a difficult spot because of their size and slower speed. After the queue merger I found them to be too unpredictable to do well in, on some maps going below 60kph would just get you hung out to dry since faster 'Mechs had become more favourable. It's definitely possible to do well in one, but I think they are probably the hardest class to play at the moment.

Entire game is unpredictable. Teams are unpredictable. Unpredictability is predictable. Don't care. Just here to shoot things.

EDIT: By the way? .88 now. Less than a week. Like your odds Metalgod?

I play less of my slower Assaults in Soup Queue than I used to, and now simply prioritize the ones that can do 60+ or better. When I take something slower it's hit or miss. Can usually manage to say something early on and keep up with the Nascar. Usually when I drop super heavy I wind up being the lone Assault with a bunch of fast movers, but I point it out and they tend to stick with me. We still lose due to lack of tonnage, but at least I wasn't left behind.

Direwolves, KGCs and Atlas don't have the presence and power they once did, and stuff like them and Annis can be feast or famine. It's hardly a dead weight class though, not even close. Just requires actual knowledge of the game/maps and communication, seeing as it's, you know...a team game.

Not a team game. You're on a team but they don't really play like a team usually. Just try to stay close to team usually and pick commits well. Sometimes bad stuff happens. Sometimes bad stuff happens to enemy team. Isn't much different with other weight classes. You start to notice chicken team more when pushing in assault, but teams are almost always chickens anyway. Be aggressive, send unspoken message to team that they will be aggressive too or they will lose an assault. See if they want to lose assault.

ATMs and a s-srm 6 on a Mad Cat II or a WHM IIC will get you sick damage in an assault mech as long as you play smart. I'm not saying that if you try to Leeroy Jenkins it or run off on your own you're going to do well, but i'm a pretty mediocre player overall and i'm routinely able to dish over 600 and sometimes as much as 1300 across a variety of maps with it, even sometimes in the midst of a nascar. Most versatile mech i own. The trick with assault mechs is to not get over-confident because of the xtra armor. It doesn't mean that much. I've found that pushing the engine size up on them and skilling the movement tree helps too. Rarely ever skill much in the armor tree. Xtra armor just doesn't help as much as extra mobility. I run the Mad Cat with about 73 KPH and half the movement tree skilled. Being able to accel/decel just a little quicker saves a lot of armor and the extra speed helps you not get picked on as bad in the nascar. Nothing going to help if you just run off on your own. Seriously, if you can't play an assault, it's probably because you are too much of a lone wolf. Try sticking with the pack. Not necessarily right in the thick of them (especially if you're using ATMs) but close. Or go play a stealth light. I mean for real. You can run off to your hearts content and if anyone ever shoots you it will be about 80% blind luck.

STUPID.

SSRMs are bad, especially on assault. ATMs marginal on those chassis. Aim better. Shoot legs on lights. Paying tonnage and cooldown for bad version of SRM is stupid.
