Paul Inouye, you promised us discussion in THIS thread:

Here are the day to day Tier changes over the last 16 days since patch.
....
As mentioned, we'll continue to monitor and adjust as needed. At the end of 3 months, we'll take a hard look at all numbers involved and discuss with you the next steps.

-Paul

It has been more than three months since the PSR Reset ...

So I would say that the time has come for the promised discussion.

Some topics that we could and should discuss:

► Do you think that the merge of Solo and Group Queues has made MWO players happy?
Especially the casual Solo players who are being fed to seasoned 4-5-man premade groups, sometimes repeatedly in a short time span?

► Do you think that serving helpless T3 Cadets to be harvested by skilled T1 players is good for the game and the retention of new players?
For your information, those Cadets often last about two or three minutes before being killed off.

► Do you think that the fact that one team fields multiple Assault-class 'Mechs while the other team has none is good for the game balance?

What are your next steps to keep MechWarrior Online alive?

Guys, chill out... It has not really been 3 Months since Paul Inouye has been Last Online to the MWO Forums, and we're going to have to wait about 13 or 14 more Days before he's likely to poke his head up again. It will likely be October 15th or 16th when he'll finally get back to communicating with the Community in general.

Now, that said, I am rather angry with his taking the Tonnage Balancing entirely offline. (It really falls under "This should NEVER have been done. Why did they make such a confusion-causing error?" in terms of how bad a problem this has caused!) There should always be an EQUAL number on each Team of whatever Weight Class Layout happens to be picked for a particular Match that's played. If that's with 3/3/3/3 (or 6/6/6/6) limits on one Team, then it should be the same for the Opposing Team's Mechs in that particular Match which has been set up. If it ends up being 2/4/1/5, or 1/2/4/5, or 3/1/2/6, or even 1/3/5/3, or even ANY danged combination set of Light/Medium/Heavy/Assault... well, the Opposite Team should have EXACTLY the same Weight Class Layout set up, so that BOTH Teams' Tonnage is at least close enough to allow for Fair & Balanced Matches to be properly played at any given time. Otherwise, the unwanted Stomps continue to happen without regard to PSR of the players in the Match, which then makes MWO into being a pit of misery for all.

~Mr. D. V. "Just a few more Days, people... But that Team Tonnage Balance is massively overdue for re-activation!" Devnull

And because of that complete disinterest and unwillingness to care, then MWO will end up dying because too many of the remaining Player Base will ultimately end up forced through attrition by reaching their limits to give up and leave. We're not a bunch of guinea pigs, and most people just don't take well to being silently declared cannon fodder for a very small percentage of other people. Games are meant to be fun for all, not sadness/stress/upsetting for all but a rather inanely small percentage of players. :(

<silly>
I joke (as in, really totally being silly & facetious here) about this... But, does anyone happen to have a voodoo doll that they could use on Paul Inouye to force him to wake up and come check back in with us? I personally don't have one, but I think it would sure make him interested in a quick and shocking manner... LOL!!!

I think this is a good idea - because it improves teamplay and should motivate other players to join groups

it's a bad idea, cadets should be Tier-5

it is a bad idea, now a complete imbalance - very often it happens that in one team there are 5 assaults, and in the other there is no

next best steps:
1. Cadets must be tier-5
2. T1 and T2 players must play separately from all (without T3 and T4 and T5 (cadets) players)
3. Almost all maps need to be redone - remove the possibility of nascar (only Rubellite Oasis and Crimson Strait maps have a low probability of nascar, because there is a lot of open space in the center of the map)

players love nascar - this is the only reason why they choose trash nascar maps like "CANYON NETWORK", "CAUSTIC VALLEY", "FROZEN CITY (CLASSIC)", "GRIM PLEXUS", "HPG MANIFOLD", "POLAR HIGHLANDS", "THE MINING COLLECTIVE", "VIRIDIAN BOG", "HIBERNAL RIFT" - all the ****** time

players wont brain tactic games - players wanna pew-pew games without brains..........

Yeah, well, the BT fanbase is not exactly spoiled with offerings, so at the rate things have been going pretty much any other game would go belly up so much sooner than MWO - and MWO servers are still up. So as much as I want to have a good game in the setting that I like, I have to conclude that the three horsemen of game design think they can get away with anything at this stage. Not a nice pill to swallow, but better sorry than fooled.

Then people would simply start alt accounts to club seals and abandon them after their tier gets raised. Not much of a difference to what we have now.

Who wants that anyway? In MWO playing against much lower skilled players is boring as hell. I really feel sorry if I come across someone who doesnt stand much of a chance.
I more and more got the feeling that this whole idea of seal clubbing being something that people of higher tiers enjoy is made up by the lower tier guys who unfortunately are being put in the same games as the high tier players, thanks to starting everyone at T3 and the playerbase being quite small.

By that logic people who want to play in a group would stick to the group queue or FP and stay away from the mixed queue, right?

Right?

I still laugh on the notion that the changes would make people group up and cooperate more often. Past few months I learned to never trust people in groups. Very rarely they communicate with normal people, and many times are detrimental for the play, usually by leaving the rest of the team to get themselves enough points/kills.
