Groups suck
MM sucks

But fortunately for me, the thing that sucks the most is PSR. It sucks for how easily abusable it is, therefore off-sucking the suck of groups and MM.

The matchmaker definitely does some pretty odd things. I just had a match where I was on the losing end of a game where the opposing team had five assaults, five heavies, one medium and one light and we had one assault, five heavies, five mediums and one light. 870 tons vs 695 tons.

Naturally they just walked right on through us and we didn't even look like stopping them for five seconds. I screwed up and got shot by most of their team but we were already five down at that point and it didn't really matter. Matches that are completely lopsided happen when one team plays well and one plays poorly, that's fine. Matches that are completely lopsided before a shot's even fired are stupid.

We had a match where we had like 4 assaults or more and the heaviest mech on the enemy team was 65 tons. Posted Image

Ive played since open beta and I see no difference in terms of wins and losses or close games or complete stomps. Its more or less the same.

From what I have seen so far in like 8 years of playing this game (or longer?) there is only a very small percentage of groups that are actually really good. Just because they drop in a group doesnt mean ****.

In general I think people need to stop focusing on wins vs losses.

I try to evaluate how well I did on a personal level. Did I get more than 300 damage in a light? 400 in a med? 500 in a heavy? 700 in an assault? Did I soak a lot of damage before dying? Did I lose a ST before getting cored?

Did I get at least 1 kill? Did I play the objective? Did I pull off something awesome that the scoring system doesn't really pick up on like distracting an enemy and splitting the team?

Don't get me wrong. I def. get frustrated at times if my team gets stomped so badly that my personal performance suffers. Can't reach high damage if a flank collapses and it's a complete rout.

But if we lose a match but I have 500 damage done, 400 damage taken, and 2 kills. I won regardless of what the match result was. And generally speaking I'm happy with that. My goal isn't to get to Tier 1. My goal is to have fun with stompy robots.

for me its not a win/loss problem, its a quality of the battle problem. I dont mind losing if its close (and close to me is like a 12/8 win) but groups can break the MM. Its not fun being in a 3 min round because some 4 man group stomps a team in some massive meta buildoff where your own teams weight is lacking compared to the other.

that isn't fun for anyone on either team except the 4 man group.
