We aren't getting more than maybe one new mech. The game is what, 8 years old. Many mechs already have their SLDF variants in the game tho.

My bet is on Crusader being the next and the last new mech.

Russ Bullock mentioned some time ago that (maybe) there is one incomplete 'Mech in the production pipeline. Before you ask: No, nobody knows what 'Mech it is (if any).

Go to this thread and post your decal suggestion: Do You Have Any Decal Suggestions?

Unfortunately, PGI mostly ignores that thread, but if you want to feel better ...

The Crab and Champion are also in the game.

Some of these Mechs have roles that are already perfectly well filled by existing designs. The Bombardier is basically an Archer knock off. The Thug is covered quite adequately by the Hatamoto-Chi.

Yeah.

A significant part of all Inner Sphere 'Mechs in MWO are essentially Star League 'Mechs.

Bombardier is more or less Archer with a larger engine, and Hatamoto-Chi was designed to fill the Thug's role in the DCMS.

Which is funny, as the Hatamoto-Chi was originally built off the Charger frame.

And both are rarely seen in MWO.

Just to reiterate:

Already in game:

Crab, Kintaro, Champion, Black Knight, Highlander, King Crab

The rest won't be, PGI are in maintenance mode and won't be adding anything that requires investment/effort without a near-guaranteed return.

Regarding the decals: There is potential for this to happen, just got to catch PGI at the right time and hope they're paying attention. Still waiting on my WORD - CLANBUSTER decal...

Assuming they have the people able to code it, it could be an interesting experiment in a series of 'mechs that are "neutral" with regard to faction...ie: both sides can choose them for drop decks, bridging the tech exclusivity we have currently.

Not sure how that'll play out with regard to customization. Star League gear isn't IS or Clan, it's what they're both developed from.

There's something sort of like that with the Battle Cobra, which as both Clan and IS variants...but that wouldn't give the IS access to Clan tech or vice-versa.

Technically Omnimechs are supposed to be able to pod-mount any faction equipment very easily with no penalties, but I'd rather not go down that rabbit hole. Tech segregation is good.

Only when the tech is properly balanced.

As it stands* IS mechs rely on quirks to balance them which has left a lot of them in the dust due to inadequate quirking.

*Hardpoint and geometry issues aside

There's no quirk-free way to level the playing field between good and bad robots. The IS mechs that do good now would do even better (perhaps being even outright OP) while the bad ones would get a bit more power but still kinda suck for the most part.

There are a few exceptions though like the Cicada 3C that would be a legendary troll with the Clan ERPPC in ways that it can't be with the IS ERPPC (assuming the weapon quirks apply to both faction ERPeepers). And I guess Panthers would get a lot more use out of their CT missiles than they currently do. Other than weird cases like that I don't think the bad robbits are going to catch up to the good ones even with mixed tech.

And admittedly I would love to run MRM spam on my Vulture Prime with its set of 8 quirks...but I think it's for the best to keep it segregated. If there's a particular hole in a faction's arsenal that should be amended either through adding new guns or changing existing ones.

I've always been of the mentality: Balance the tech, roll back the quirks.

If the tech bases were fundamentally balanced there wouldn't be a dependency on quirks for balance, and mix-tech wouldn't be such an issue.

You could still keep necessary quirks for the worst offenders suffering from hardpoint/geometry issues but they should be primarily for flavour.

There's also supposed to be a Clan version of the wolfhound, but that apparently slipped everyone's mind.

But, still, I suppose if they're gonna release Star League mechs, they should all just go to the IS since there are so many more Clan mechs than there are Inner Sphere.

if we do end up getting mixtech, i think the way to do it is via quirks. only certain mechs and they would be component and weapon type specific as well as limit the number you can install. for example: +1 lt clan ballistic support.
