Will we? No. There is a roughly 99% chance that no robots get buffed, nerfed, or otherwise adjusted ever again. Development has all but stopped.

How about:
We add IS-omnis first so both sides have the choice between a battlemech and an omnimech.
Then we'll look at buffing the under performing omnis.

Since the majority of IS OmniMechs suitable for the current era suck with their fixed (usually XL) engines, single heat sinks or fixed equipment and other things, not many people would buy them, thus leaving PGI with the financial loss. But it does not matter anyway, since PGI will "maybe" release just one new 'Mech in 2021.

The solution is simple: don't release the crappy ones. Give us the Raptor, Men Shen, and Black Hawk KU, all of which would be good to great.

Maybe PGI will release "one" new 'Mech in 2021, depending on resources available. And it is quite possible that it will be a Clan 'Mech, since the number of Clan 'Mechs in the game is much smaller than the number of IS 'Mechs.

That may be, but that is a different issue.

The roadmap includes a number of balance passes in 2021. Now I'm keeping expectations light but there probably will be some changes to mech quirks and other attributes sometime this year.

I like to see them make thee quirks on the pods only effect the weapons on that pod. That way they could make more interesting and effective builds

I have faith that Daeron is gonna get it done. Probably not ALL the fixes everyone wants, but some.

That's in part due to omnimech customisation. Omnimechs offer a much greater variety of hardpoint configurations whereas a battlemechs hard-points are locked.

Yup and one reason they need to fix the bad ones so Clan have more options

I personally advocate Set-of-6 to enjoy the OmniMech quirk.
ie: Keep any 6 of the 8 original parts (Head/CT/LT/RT/LA/RA/LL/RL) to enjoy the quirks listed.
***The recent MWO/PGI 2021 Roadmap did state that the Set-of-8 OmniMech quirk system may be reviewed, perhaps for changes! Please voice out your support for this:

I like it but it would be tricky to code.
Personally, I'd prefer if pods-quirks only worked when they're on the corresponding base chassis. ie.
Cougar Prime - Left arm has a +5% energy cooldown.
If you remove the left arm and attach it to the Cougar B, the Cougar B does not gain this quirk.
If you remove the right of the Cougar Prime and attach a different arm in it's place you retain the quirk left arms quirk.
It gives an incentive to retain base-pods whenever possible,

That could work

You missed the boat. It was meta during the Clan invasion period. Now it's fallen behind due to the power creep.
It's still a very good mech, if people would just stop running Missiles on them
