this is a ******* disaster: it will turn MWO into Rio de Janeiro. People are going to spam hitbox confusing bolt ons, and we will see everything but mechs in game.

Add an option to turn off seeing bolt ons. Bam problem solved, those that want them to stay on, have them. Those who don't want to see them, don't.

Do they have bolt-ons in Rio de Janeiro?

what would you consider a hit box confusing bolt on?

One of the Blood Asp bolt-ons add blades to the shoulder pods, if you don't have any ST weapons mounted, the bolt-on will add a fake shoulder pod.

Chainsaws, helipads, and shoulder guards would also serve to obscure hitboxes in a variety of ways.

The only warhorn I would condone is a Duncan Fisher one where he says KAPOW every time you get a kill. Anything else is turbocringe.

For cockpit items there's always the classy Urbie.

Do bolt ons block damage or something?
The primary purpose of bolt-ons seems to be to expand your silhouette and thus give away your position on hills/corners more easily.

No, they do not.

The OP of the thread believes that people might try to use them to cover up a mech's hitboxes to make singling out particular sections more difficult. I'm not sure whether or not this will actually be an issue when it gets patched in, but I think most bolt-ons look stupid regardless.

I have a hard time seeing how this could be an issue.

Bolt on are fine. The bomb strapped to the back of my jenners is highly entertaining considering how trash tier and easy to kill the mech is. You think bolt on are bad look at the number of years it took just to get the atlas' glowing eyes back.

You're kidding, right? Bolt ons falling off is the best part of FF. You can strip that crap off with your TAG as you leave spawn.

Man it would be great if this game was anywhere near as fun as Rio.

This, please. I already want this, I don't care to see any Bolt-Ons.

The new change is fine. People payed to decorate their mechs with bolt-ons. Now they get to enjoy them for the whole match. Honestly, bolts-on are not confusing on targeting, shoot the mechs not the decorations.

Most of them can only be seen from third person view, though.

Admittedly, it's far from the worst way PGI could monetize the game.

I still think they look dumb tho.

Yes but from what i understood from the OP is he's scared people (or himself) will shoot at the decorations like the flags, hand held objects, etc then the actual mechs. Doing no damage to the mech since they would ge shooting over the hitbox

If someone wanted to try to obscure their hitboxes they would probably try either heavily bulking up the shoulders (make it hard to see the torso from the side view) or placing stuff all over their torso sections. Stuff like flags or chainsaws attached to a mech's hand pose no threat of hitbox obfuscation.
