I believe the formula caps out at -24, meaning a minimum of 42 consecutive matches of 0 damage and no other contribution to drop one tier.

Difficult to achieve outside of a disconnect or early headshot, so it would realistically take a long time of grinding all the Zeus variants to actually drop a tier.

What you call "out of whack," PGI calls "working as intended."

This is exactly what they wanted. The next logical step is to allow full 12 man premades into QP.

The thing about damage is that it's still damage. Doing damage to the enemy is always a good thing. There is damage that is more or less efficient at killing your enemy or degrading their ability to fight back, but in the end it is always good to do damage. You cannot say the same about many of the other match score kickers.

Yea I just wish there was a way to reward people for efficient damage

Maybe a bonus to damage done to the component that results in the mech's death?

Let's say I put an alpha into the CT of a mech early in the match. That mech retreats and repositions and I don't see it again during the match.

Maybe over the course of the match that mech gets pretty beat up, and then finally a team mate opens the CT and kills the mech. I already get a kill assist, and I think killing blow should get the larger reward. But maybe the total damage done to the CT is divided by who did that damage, and I get a bonus for dealing damage to the "death component"?

Like if I hit the ST but the mech is running a STD engine I just get the usual kill assist reward. But every player who damaged the component that results in the mech's death gets a payout proportional to the damage done. In theory if I open the CT and drop the CT's health to all but the last few points of structure but don't get the killing blow I should get paid more than whoever got the lucky killing shot. I think that scenario already results in a solo kill award?

This gets tricky with LE, Clan XL, and legging deaths though. Do we pay out for each person who hit each ST or leg? Not sure how that would be handled fairly.

I had fun climbing the tiers again for what it's worth. But I probably will need a few months away from Quick Play after that grind. Lol.
