i log in and i find this;
my mech with the same rated engine (300) full speed tweak tree... is slower now.
what happened?

Was the old screenshot from the old skill tree days? Many years ago speed tweak gave 10%, but got nerfed to 7.5% some time ago.

Is it worth it to give speed tweak to an 80-tonner?

Depends on the mech.. Some are crazy slow. That said i agree speed tweek is pointless on a lrm boat.
Mine runs MRM 60-80 i can't remember.

Especially when the 80-tonner in question is most likely built as a Lurm boat (not much else to do on this variant).

At this point in time, it makes more sense to invest skillpoints into Mobility's Kinetic Burst, at least it really makes a difference when poking/trading.
Top speed is just the bragging rights, unless you happen to be capturing on maps all the time.
(And the Light/Medium mechs will always outrun you regardless of what you do).

Ahhh I do speed tweak my Annihilators. The reason I do so is solely due to the Nascar ideology of soup queue, I don't need to be the fastest mech on the field, just faster than that Fafnir or Dire Wolf. Speed Tweak accomplishes this.

Same usually mechs like Dire Wolves, Kodiaks, Fafnirs, Annihilators, Maulers etc.. for me anything i'm forced to run 48.6 etc i tend to speed tweak.. 52-53 speed actually makes a difference for me.

depends on the 80 tonner. if its gargles, go ahead. of course nobody uses those anymore since the cspl nerf. it used to be my go to clan laser brawler for fp. i put them on my ultraviolet to get me an extra 4 kph which i feel helps it get into position a little bit sooner, which also means i start firing a little sooner as well. with its dps a few seconds means i can get 100 or so damage out in short order. its my top damage spewer by far and i think this helps it, and if not its good enough where i can screw around a little. ive actually stopped using speed tweak them opting instead for the torso speed nodes, or abandon the tree all together for my slower mechs. its kind of a trap and not the fun kind.
