So i pop in this post to see what thing they possibly could of done to screw up.. then i read the thread and see that this outrage is over 4 points of armor.. basically a single hit by half the weapons in the game is causing the outrage.
I'll just leave you with this. They have ton's of data trackers that say what weapons are doing, what mechs are dying to ect,, Do you think it is possible they added a bit of extra armor because people in trails, and lower end tiers just shoot each other in the back a heck of a lot more than the average t3+?
People don't know how wide they are, where they arms are, heck sometimes they don't even see small mechs in front of them. which will help from getting their weapons critted from their own teammate if they happen to scrap them with a weapon. It also gives them a tad more time to react to a light hitting them from behind.
PGI might have done some questionable things in many folks minds in the past but 4-5 points of extra armor on the rear of a trail mech for new players is not one of them.

The old trial mechs sucked but they were some what survivable in a new customers hands.. These new ones are not.
I dunno what you are talking about, there are a bunch of super solid mechs, nearly identical to many i have kitted out. The HBR and Crab are great builds if you like lasers, but there are a bunch of really solid builds in there that should be fairly new player friendly if they do any kind of training in the testing grounds. (which i always tell new players to do)
