All my masc mechs have lost their turning mobility. i needed that, it was a crucial part of what made the mechs work. super disappointed in this change

There are other MASC-ruined threads already; please feel free to add to those instead.

I for one welcome the extra time on the speedboost when piloting my Lanner. Now I can properly hit AND run.

What surprises me the most is how many actually used masc in the game.. To me its like a crutch for bad mechs or a item i remove for extra tonnage lol.

Duty cycle is still the same (33%), so in a sustained "marathon" it works out exactly the same. But, depending on the time window we're talking about, it can allow longer sprint periods.

Previously you could engage it for about 8 seconds (just shy of damage threshold), then wait 16 seconds for it to fully drain.

Now you can engage it for 16 seconds, but you'll also have to wait 32 seconds for it to fully drain.

In those 8 additional seconds of MASC-boosted sprint, you'll be travelling ~25kph faster than your normal top speed. That's just under 7 meters/sec. That means in 8 seconds it's a difference in positioning of 56 meters. That's a distance that the BKL would normally cover in 1.77 seconds at its normal top speed.

There might be the occasional edge cases where that's the difference between slipping away from retaliation and getting caught out, but I think for the most part the trade-off isn't worth it (in terms of the negative to turn rate and removal of the deceleration boost).

THANKS PGI FOR COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY RUINING THE SHADOW CAT. IT NOW HANDLES LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN WITH THE ARMOR OF A PAPER AIRPLANE.

I guess your MASC "enhancements" were geared for heavies and assaults, and you just decided that mediums and lights don't exist.

I guess you miss other posts such as one above complaining how the poster says it nerfed the Hellfire (Heavy) and Executioner (Assault) above and in other topics.

Based on the patch notes, the rationalization for the MASC killing only theoretically makes sense for heavier and slower mechs. Doesn't mean it that it works in practice for the either, but go ahead and be a smartass about it if that's how you roll.
