It's the first time that I can see competence in weapon changes.... no matter if there are changes to be made afterwards, because of experience in real gameplay with it.

This changes will be FUN!
Unless you are a masochist and like to be treated bad from "above"... which many people seem to be these days.

Exceptionally positive stuff thank you all.

The March patch really changed the feel of the game for me and I had far less fun; as such I intentionally played less.

I *very* much look forward to logging on and enjoying my favourite game again shortly :-).

Apologies if this is a dumb question*, but does the change in Clan AC shells mean that you're effectively getting more shots per ton of ammo?




*I don't use Clan ACs much.

Those changes sound like going in the right direction. They will revitalise the game by a huge margin. So thx for that.
Only two things bother me:
AMS are nothing more then specialised Machineguns, in lore they can even be used as such. So why should their ammo be safe from exploding? We do not need to strengthen the Corsair 7a even more.
Second, IS case is not clan case and we do not need to water it down even further. Case should stay as it is.

If we go by using deductive reasoning because of "lore", then this game would be awful. Some things are meant to be different that what is stated in the Battletech universe, wiki, rules, or whatever the hell you want to call it.

Big thanks to all the Cauldron guys, Matt, Daeron & Nav Alpha. Been having a lot of fun just mech labbing and can't wait to play it all live and see how terrible my ideas are. The game really needed a shake up and working together to make these changes is definitely the way forward. Hype is real

This is a deep breath this game needed. But by far the BIGGEST STEP in this is you guys skipping the months of waiting and silence, and getting right into implimentation and showing us exactly what going to happen and when. That is a huge step for you guys, and we truly appreciate it. Putting trust in the community is what we wanted and now we finally see it. If things go bad, guess what? We'll help fix it. If you ask US for stuff to change, thats OUR responsability to sort things out, for good and bad.

And hey, If one of these changes turns out to be bull you can't take the blame Posted Image

So thank you PGI. Things are finally looking up.

In lore some mechs have rear facing weapons. SO WHEN ARE WE GETTING THOSE?!?!

Elated that proposed changes by the Cauldron are not only being considered, but are going to go live.

But also thank you to Matt and Daeron for working with the Cauldron, unlike their predecessors. This is a big step forward in revitalizing the game after years of bad decisions and maintenance mode.

Could the patch be implemented maybe ... today. I am really glad this is going live and undos the last patch.

Thanks Daeron, Matt and the Cauldron for the effort.

I would like to see the IS AC20 heatpenalty removed and the LB5X with a better cooldown, but in general this looks so good.

YAY, makes me buy the striker bundle.

Hopefully we'll be able to get hotfixes or further patches to fine tune weapon stats quickly after the implementation of this. Some weapons or weapon combinations will need further help.

My overtly cynical mind couldn’t comprehend that this is actually coming. That we get the changes live instead of PTS. This truly is the best news MWO has had in years in terms of balance and bringing more variety and fun into the game. When the patch hits, I will be playing as now I have trust on Matt and Daeron for cooperating with the good folk of Cauldron and knowing what is best for the future of the game.

I did not say that everything should be done as it is in lore. I was just stating a possibility and a reason lorewise why ammo for AMS should explode since it is technically the same as MG ammo. It just makes no sence to me at all why one MG ammo explodes while the other doesn't. Having AMS on board is a big plus as it is with our broken matchscore system so why would you want to improve that even further?
Next up this is still a Battletech game and should resemble it in one way or another. There is not much lore left in this game anyway and I am fine with that it is in the end a first person shooter. What I do not like if in lore or not are decisions that are bare of any logic, like ams suddenly firering rubberballs through compressed air to shoot down tactical missiles.To me that is just bs.

Oh and if you want to use a not exploding weaponsystem that shoots down missiles, go for Laser AMS, cause that is why it was invented in the first place and the non exploding ammo will render this system completely useless.

It will remain to be seen how much more prolific regular and laser AMS get after these changes. If they become too common, as they are already really strong against slow moving missiles (ie. clan LRMs and ATMs), then they may need to be toned down.

This is a great step in the right direction! I love the idea of just stepping right into it without going through a PTS. Kudos for the PGI team!
