So how are you going to share your idea in a timely manner?

I see it as down now. Do you think it is down for good? I had so many loadouts saved there.

Phew it's back! Hope it will last. Wish there was another tool still going strong that would be able to import from smurfy.

smurfy used to be treasure trove for mwo data. smurfy was also kind enough to provide the data in JSON format, i'd wager much better than the mwomercs.com "full".json...

check here for sample and a list of all available data (maybe grab it while it's still available...most is accessible even whithout an apikey):
https://github.com/s...ster/api-sample

e.g. mechs list:
https://mwo.smurfy-n...data/mechs.json

Sadly somewhat out of date. Looks like it went into "maintainance mode" the same time as MWO. It still includes teh dervish, but stopped some time before the stryker pack.

I still visit Smurfy.net everyday, and whenever I do MechBay work on my mechs.
It's (sadly) the goto website for me, for the lack of viable alternatives.

Sadly Smurfy.net is still vastly superior in its visual presentation for weapons/Ghost_Heat info, and weapon hardpoint differences between different variants (eg: what is the weapon hardpoint difference between AWS-9M vs AWS-8Q ?)

MechDB presently is just a glorified mechbay simulator, with a good mech quirk presentation.
Don't know if upcoming MechDB v2.0 can replace Smurfy.net for me.

============================
Smurfy.net stopped updating right after Dervish mech introduction.

ie: Smurfy.net did not include the Epic MW5 launch of below four (4) mechs:

Catapult CPLT-C2 (introduced concurrently with MW5) - not in the mech list

Warhammer WHM-9D (introduced concurrently with MW5) - not in the mech list

Marauder MAD-9M (introduced concurrently with MW5) - not in the mech list

King Crab KGC-001 (introduced concurrently with MW5) - not in the mech list

Thunderbolt TDR-10SE (new Stryker Booster Pack) - not in the mech list

Dragon DRG-1G (new IS Stryker Booster Pack) - not in the mech list

Timber Wolf TBR-BH (new Clan Warden Booster Pack) - not in the mech list

Dire Wolf DWF-C (new Clan Warden Booster Pack) - not in the mech list

Now that MechDB 2.0 has their own equipment lookup section, and custom mechs, there's really no reason to use Smurfys at all anymore.

Smurfys was a revolutionary trailblazer that defined the baseline for what online mech builders should be like, but its age is really showing and old yeller might be on his last leg. It's time to move on.

Yet it is still better than MWOs mech building UI Posted Image, which is sad.

But I have built pretty much all of my mechs past half Year in MDB and just imported them in-game because that is so much better than in-game building.

There was one: looking up chassis (and omnipods) based on quirk magnitudes. In MechDB you can only filter by the quirk's presence, but that means the filter will give you a mech with 5% quirk as happily as it will give you one with a 25% quirk.
Using Smurfy while it was still up to date, I've occasionally used text search against their quirk list to find mechs based on the highest quirk values; that, unfortunately, cannot be found on MechDB and neither can any form of filtering or sorting by quirk magnitude.

While we are currently discussing this Smurfy.de topic:

~Whilst we greatly appreciate MechDB 2.0 new presentation with lock step updates to monthly MWO/Cauldron patches (it is a lot of work to be fair):

1. I still refer to Smurfy.de for its minimum weapon range info; I feel sorry for the MWO beginners just starting to play MWO!
MechDB 2.0 does not even display this minimum weapon range info, to the best of my knowledge:
https://mwo.smurfy-net.de/equipment

Q: What is the minimum range of IS LRM? (A: 180 meters --> MechDB 2.0 does not even let you know!!)

Q: What is the minimum range of Clan ATM? (A: 120 meters --> MechDB 2.0 does not even let you know)

Q: What is the minimum range of IS PPC? (A: 90 meters --> MechDB 2.0 does not show this; get the idea?)
(And we are not even getting into this PPC exponential damage decay within minimum range...)

Q: What is the minimum range of IS Heavy-PPC? (A: 90 meters --> MechDB 2.0 does not show this; get the idea?)

2. I still daily (!) refer to Smurfy.de for its superior [Table_View] mech weapon/equipment hardpoint presentation, all on 1 webpage (outdated as it is), such as:
https://mwo.smurfy-net.de

Q: Which Hunchback variant has the most energy hardpoints, and how many?
A: HBK-4P with 9x energy hardpoints
~Smurfy.de literally shows you the total number of energy/missile/ballistic hardpoints for you!

Q: Which Hunchback variant has the most ballistic hardpoints, and how many energy hardpoints does it have?
A: HBK-4G, with 3x ballistic hardpoints, & 3x energy hardpoints)

Q: Oh wait, I need HBK with just 1x ballastic hardpoint, and how many energy hardpoints does it have?
A: HBK-4H, with 1x ballistic hardpoints, & 5x energy hardpoints)

In [Table_View] where it is most useful for me, MechDB 2.0 does not count the total number of energy/missile/ballistic hardpoints, especially when I'm comparing all variants with the same chassis, like above HBK example.

Huh? I think MechDB 2.0 does exactly that and much better than smurfy ever did...

He's talking about the table view, not the tile view.
