With the recent update and MW5 coming, the player population will see an increase. The last thing you want to do is turn away the new players with a bad starting experience. MWO has definitely come a long way from the whole having to buy three of the same chassis to max out their skill trees, but the new player experience still isn't good at all, and not at a point where I can comfortably recommend this game to friends. There are a few changes that they should really consider while the game has its current momentum.

Not in any particular order:

1. Add complete skill trees to trial mechs. The skill tree has its problems but at least for now just give trial mechs a full skill tree, even if it's suboptimal. When I first started playing that was one of the most frustrating things as a new player, you're at a gameplay disadvantage right from the get go, which is a pretty terrible position to put new players in. This would also make the trial mech based events a little more tolerable for the general playerbase.

2. Give new players a decent amount of resources to start with. Last I checked, you only start with 4 mech bays, which is hardly enough. I think the starting c bill bonuses were increased which is good but the bare minimum for mech bays starting off should be more than 4.

3. Decent starting bundles on the store. There are apparently new bundles coming to the store but no concrete info on their contents. I am hoping that these will include a little bit of everything as a lot of the current bundles are missing one resource or another. It would be best to have a few of these bundles at different prices points, with varying quantities of Hero/Champion mechs, c-bills, gsp, mc, mech bays, and premium time, and any other resource I forgot about. Giving one of these starting bundles for free with the purchase of MW5 would also be a good idea for gaining new players.

4. Reduce or remove the various c bill fees. This is something that means absolutely nothing to veteran players but is a pain for new players. It should be reduced or removed from skill tree nodes, and the fees for the different mech upgrades like armor conversions should be reduced, or made to where paying to unlock an upgrade only has to be done once instead of every time you change it.

5. Consumables. This is also something that's insignificant to old players but annoying for new ones. I'm in favor of a complete rework of these things, but even a small change would be an improvement, because right now you'll have new players who are saving up to buy their first mechs/skill points/etc. who will be seeing these things spammed in their matches like they cost nothing.

6. Events. I think I went my first year or more not even knowing this thing existed, because it's just a tiny "E" at the bottom of the menu. If a player completes a challenge, it should just redeem the awards automatically anyways. I don't know if there is a proper tutorial on the menus in game but there should be.

If I missed anything let me know. It's been years since I first started playing so they might have changed some things I didn't know about.

Yeah, I know how it feels... hope that MWO/PGI makes it much easier for new players to get up and running...

Not enough CBills to purchase equipment (especially Engines!!)...

And finding out you've missed Event Awards especially...
(You can log into this webpage, [Profile]>>[Events] to claim your Event Awards!)

I'd rather erase completely the skill-tree system, it's an old and valueless mechanics.
Consumables should be erased too, or made out for free.
I also believe there isn't any player who buys c.bills so they are useless, keeping them just for buying mechs is enough.
