So, the one I got way back some Halloween ended up being a uac10 and five er mediums cool running brawler for CW. This one I think I'll go Lbx 20, dual srm 4s and five small pulse. Pure point blank.

And yes, I'd be mix and matching omnipods. It's what they're for.

converted mine to an ac20+2asrm6+3erml. i tried it as an atm build but i forgot that the cauldron nuked those, tried lrms, that lasted one drop. so its a brawler now. i think my problem with the timby is its lack of pod space.

I will try my LBX20+four ASRM6 Timby (again). After the engine desync its agility was just to slow for brawling. Let's see how it will work after the buff.

Quite right.

Usually OmniMechs offer a great adaptability - especially if one has some spare OmniPods stripped from other owned variants.

MW4 did not even feel right and did some really wacky stuff. After trying the demo, skipped it.

At least you didnt die from loosing ear launchers lol...

Any ear setup in mwo makes you too vulnerable, anyone with at least a decent aim, will go for those, no matter if they are LRMs, ATMs, SRMs or TBR A lasers.

Also its arms are way too low, having main weapons in those is also a waste of mech.

Yet few complaints about the Catapult especially since it got shrunk and it has ears plus low slung non-Missile weapons.

Yeah i forgot about catapult. That one helluva T1 IS mech. One of the best, i'm seeing lot o f them every game i play... not.

/sarcasm

really only one worth playing is K2 with dual ac20 or dual HvyGauss, and guess twice where its balistic hardpoint are? Gonna give you a hint: Not in its ears.

Also, catapults ears are its arms, not side torsos like Timby's rocket launchers.

I'd rather use a Hellbringer, even after the upcoming agility buffs.

Summoner has been growing on me lately. Great mobility, decent armor and can be played similar to a hellbringer.

I set a prime chassis varients up like a pseudo falconer. It's not too bad actually, not fully skilled, but hopefully any buff is a good buff.
I wonder if I can jam a dragonfire build into it...
Edit: ecm. Darn it

Nobody runs missile Catapults anymore, so nobody complains about their "ears". Posted Image

The majority of Catapults I see in the game are Drac CPLT-K2s or some rare Hero "Jester" from time to time.

So complaints about the Missile racks are a Tier thing, not some other problem thus this is not an issue.

Complaining? Im not complaining. Im saying that any weapon that puts you in disadvantage is not worth taking. Sure use whatever you like, i'd play missile timbies in t5 anytime, but once you fight against serious competition, you realize that its a bad build. There are simply mechs that can do srms, lrms atms a lot better without increasing engine hitpoints, by gigantic huge 'shootme' ears.

you make a good point. other mechs can do it better, but other mechs are other mechs. i'm pretty sure i'm not the only one with a lot of nostalgic ideas about how "good" a mech should be (be it from TT/lorebooks, novels, or other mechwarrior games), especially with such an iconic mech (including the iconic lrm launchers).
But this is how the game works, and even if the timberwolf gets some love in the upcoming mobility/quirk patches i doubt it will work well in T1 with the missile pods.
In the end, each player has to decide for him/herself if it's more fun to play a timby or to perform well.

ps: starting to play again after the tier reset is great. i can bring a semi-stock timby to T4 and have fun :-) i intend to savour that.

If you are not careful, you could leave Tier 4 sooner than you think. Posted Image

I totally agree with you. I just wish timber wolf didnt suffer in higher tiers because of bad targeting system design. Thats why i mentioned mw 4 targeting system, which was a lot better than one we have in mwo right now.

Ps.: welcome back to mwo

I finished grinding the TW to 91 nodes

it took 67 drops, I tried to stay with the stock omni pods but finally switched for the last 5 nodes

ended with 2 LBX 10s and 6 ER small lasers

the sad part is I am back down in T4 for the 6th time

Piloting skilled up Mad Cat in Tier 4 means that you will be back in Tier 3 in no time. Posted Image

So many Timbies in queue now. Use high mounts to hill hump and shoot ears off of timber wolves. Profit. Posted Image
