Just got the mech reward. Admittedly it'll be a challenge but it'll be fun using something pretty iconic in the Mechwarrior days of old.

Wait until tomorrow for mobility buff, theoretically since PGI hasn't officially communicated.

It might be easier than you think.

Thanks.

I'm just been used to my Archer as my go-to Mech though I've been used to my Laser Hunchback to get a grasp of laser weaponry. But I will have my fun with this.

Wait, that's tomorrow already?! Nice! Hopefully that'll make it easier to complete the challenge on my 2nd account. :)

You do not have to keep those lasers on your Madcat, if you do not want to. The Madcat is OmniMech and it can be equipped with various loadouts that include ballistic weapons and/or missiles. Some players have already posted various interesting loadouts in this thread.

Brawling is not as easy as it used to be.

I've actually been doing fine brawling it up with my new Madcat. Brawling is still as solid as ever.

The Timber Wolf is a nice mech but CT is an easy target. I'd like to see more heavy mech variants with jump jets at some point though.

i dont think the timberwolfs CT is really that bad compared to mechs that have actual CT problems.

the timberwolf works perfectly fine for what its meant to be. a medium range skirmisher. the orion IIC is supposed to be the clan 75T brawler.

Maybe the center torso is big, but it is manageable.

I mean, the TBR is "supposed" to be an all-around capable 'mech, while the Orion IIC is "supposed" to be a garrison 'mech for pilots who are too old for a TBR, anymore... :) But their MWO roles are slightly warped.

I put 4xLRM15+6ERmicro+ClanActiveProbe on my Timby and just had a 6 kills,(4 of those solo kills),with 900+ damage game with it..

Average game is 500-ish damage game..

I say, good mech and good build.

Let us know how you do against a Corsair-7A. :) They're a bit OP as an AMS boat, if you ask me.

Anyone else really looking forward to getting a TBR-BH (provided this game hasn't drained away my will to live two months from now, anyways) and turning it into a quick, sneaky strike-brawler that works kinda like a short-range, angrier version of the ol' Gaussvomit builds? Everybody's saying the TBR Bounty Hunter is just a worse Hellbringer, but honestly? The Hellbringer is great for pure-energy builds, but nothing on the Clan side can do fast mixed-armaments builds with ECM. Night Gyrs are clumsier than friggin' Whales, Sun Spiders are just all-around bad and their ECM omnipod is a trap, and everything else is too slow or too light to work properly. This is gonna be fun.

...again. Provided MWO has not disappointed me horribly again and driven me back into another three-year hiatus. We'll see. There's a reason I ain't dropped no twenty bucks yet.

There was a time when a Timber Wolf with ECM was considered too much heh. I'm thinking of getting it sure, but I guess it depends on how much money I want to spend on an old game. I do like Timber Wolves, because you can do some nice not-so-cookie cutter fits (which also feel like proper Battletech fits) with them which actually work at least somewhat. But yeah, the Hellbringer is easy to fit for max lulz, but it definitely falls into the more cookie-cutter category.

all it would take make timberwolf top tier is to give it a right side torso with high energy mounts.

its already got the left side torso with high energy mounts.

the timberwolf is still currently better off than a lot of mechs in the game that have no high mounts at all.

I think its really unfortunate that the position of weapon hardpoints matters as much as it does because that renders a lot of mechs obsolete.

I suppose theres ways PGI could balance higher hardpoints with lower hardpoints like attaching quirks to specific hardpoints based on their locations. That way lower hardpoints would get more bonuses than higher hardpoints to help balance out the fact theyre lower.

Or if you could, say, raise the arm. I mean they made it a vaguely humanoid shape for a reason. Posted Image
