If i am allowed to guess, this is a call to those who never shoot.
Recently i have spectated a lot of ppl that simply do not fire at the enemy.
They are perfectly whihin range, the enemy does not see them and exposes the back, but not a single shot was given.
Those ppl end the game with <100dmg, simply because they do not fire their weapons.

I guess that it is because in every game a half of the team stands motionless behind buildings or rocks, without firing a single shot. Usually they end up with a barely three digit score (and sometimes not even with it).

its a visualization
you must fire your weapons to be effective in combat
another way to put it is
if you don't fight with your team you will end up fighting alone
so please fire your weapons

Recently I saw a Timber Wolf player who did a lot of shooting when no enemies were near him usually after he just ran away from a few. Did take some shots when near the enemy but more shooting when they were not around.
Having now tried both games, some of the controls are different that could lead to some people being confused thinking they are the same.
Shoot, gotta add that to the list of MW5 issues I got.

but A LOT of people still don't get it; I've "jarl'ed" quite a few fellows I dropped with over the last few weeks, and most of them are in this game for longer than I am. and they still sit behind buildings/hills/ridges, shoot nobody and end the game with under200.. which would be perfectly fine for beginners, but really strange with 'vets'.
makes you wonder..

Particularly since it's a no-respawn game mode, and overextending tends to get you killed within seconds. From there, it's easy to learn the wrong lesson and conclude that you just shouldn't ever expose, and so you end up hiding instead of fighting.
The correct lesson to take away is to not over-extend, so that you can pull back safely, or at the very least if the enemy insists on diving you, you're positioned in such a way that your team can cover you and punish the enemy for diving on you.
Ironically, hiding actually makes it more dangerous because you can't see WTF is going on. So when a bunch of enemies push over onto you, it comes as a surprise, and far far too late to reposition and fall back. At least if you expose, even if only briefly, if you do it early enough you can see the danger coming and GTFO.
All of these are mistakes I've made and continue to make. So although I try not to make these mistakes, of course I still do it sometimes, and I also understand the mindset that it's coming from.

It's also quite difficult reading the minds of QP team mates. Are they just staging before a brutal group push ? or camping there (or alternatively run around in a nascar formation, of course not shooting at anyone) until death comes to them ? If you're in a slow assault it's a gamble - much less of a problem in a light 'mech of course.

Don't like it, give a incentive to have a high damage taken, other than the grim satisfaction of knowing how much time and alphas you made the enemy team waste on you - which in turn let the big mouth MK2 rack up 900dmg and get paid well for it.

there is a difference between observation and assumption
when your fighting for your life against one or multiple mechs and you die you then you get a chance to spectate the rest of the team and you find out that a bunch of them are not even shooting
you click on other team mates and they are not shooting either
your like WTF
I would not be telling players to shoot unless I had observed them not shooting
now the game mechanics and scoring that is PGI's thing, I can't even tell you why PGI added damage taken as part of the game (unless your trying to kill your own game-IMHO)
please shoot your weapons

Based on MY observations and not yours, my statement still stands. Ones iv seen arn't firing for the sake of not firing, they are just chickens waiting for a chance to fluff their own numbers, basically for a 3-4 kill lead over the other team THEN they get brave.
