I leveled 4 lights a while ago and posted about it. Some of the lights are bad while others are ridiculous like the PIR-2. It's basically a disposable panzerfaust to kill assaults. No it doesn't have to be sucessful every time to be overpowered but if you can kill 1+ assaults or heavies every match then it is.

What Khobai also forgot to mention is that lights in MWLL still could wreck weightclasses above them ... it just was really hardcore to pull off such a stunt ...

Yep. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes, even when you Shoot The Fish™, the light 'Mech manages to outmaneuver you, tie you up, and leave you dead on the floor. That is, in fact, its entire job. That's the game it's trying to execute, and sometimes no matter what you do, the light 'Mech gets its game and manages to kill or cripple an assault 'Mech or two. Just like sometimes a Supernova will walk onto the field with its three hundred and eight tons of weapons and heat sinks and lay out half the enemy team in a 1400+-damage game of absolute wrecking-ball carnage.

Nobody ever says "ASSAULT MECHS ARE BROKEN! DX" when an assault 'Mech uses its preponderance of weapons and armor to deal tremendous damage and be a key factor in winning the game for its team. They just say "Well duh, that's just what assault 'Mechs do!"

I wonder, then, why everyone immediately jumps to "LIGHT MECHS ARE BROKEN! DX" when a light 'Mech has its own good game and starts immediately demanding all kinds of alterations that would effectively remove light 'Mechs from MWO. I mean, I don't actually wonder, I know full well why, and it has nothing to do with balance. But rhetorically, ask yourself - why aren't light 'Mechs allowed to have Great Games the way every other weight class is?

the difference is assaults dont do things assaults arnt supposed to do

while certain lights are tanking (evasion tanking) better than assaults can tank when assaults should be the best tanks

lights can have great games. but a light shouldnt be able to run through the entire enemy team and survive when an assault dies instantly if it accidentally exposes itself to 3 enemy mechs.

Why is a light leveraging the advantages of it's weight class (smaller size and higher speed) a bad thing? Its not as if as soon as you go in a light you're going to be ez dodging shots, its still skill based.

And its not like there isn't a way for mechs that can't rely on superior mobility to tank, they can still twist. Lights try to prevent taking damage at all while assaults try to migitate the damage they take to take more and be able to stay in the fight longer.

Yes walking out in front of 3 mechs is going to get you killed or take a lot of damage, the same will happen even in a light if you expose yourself unnecessarily.

they don't tho they don't have the endurance and firepower to tank better than a assualt evasion tanking only lasts so long 12 armor in the legs and 8 structure does not last long in drawn out fights

urban mech being shot by large beams plus w/e my teammate was using.

and i was aiming for his legs when i could shoot. gave zero cares until maybe 2 minutes into speed tanking the two of us?



the uban and the piranah are the two worst offenders not unkillable by any means, but the good or well perked ones are damn near godly.

the urbanmech is specifically supposed to be a slow, tanky light

the piranha is not difficult to kill at all, one good alpha and any component falls right off

sorry, this is too scary for me, every time I see a Piranha I immediately alt-tab to the MWO forums and post about how OP it is. My tears are rolling down my face as I edit my posts after the fact so at least I can win an argument. In-game, I have stopped moving and the Piranha is shooting me.

They do I’ve seen it happen countless times. Because there’s entire teams that can’t aim sometimes.

So after 28 pages are we still arguing that all lights are OP? most? some? a few? or an outliner?

As someone who doesn't frequent the forums much it is quite confusing half the time.

I played my alt. a few days ago. I was in a UAC10x4 Direwolf in caustic, in the crater proper along with 2 other assaults. We had won and it was just a mop up at that point. In jumps a mando, I reverse back up. I have my guns 2xleft 2xright. I fire rythmic bursts and I see that the indicator turns red so shots hit at least 4 times (maybe they don't but how else am I going to know). He does 2 laps and then disengages. he runs zig zag betwen the other guys that throw everything they have at him and then disapperas over the rim with an orange arm and the rest is yellow.

That's not a problem with the mech, thats a problem with the players. And it's certainly not something people should be demanding nerfs over.

i dont entirely agree. theres a lot of older people playing this game that dont necessarily have the best reflexes.

while I dont think lights need to be nerfed I absolutely see the necessity of lower skill weapons like streaks being viable.
