I joined a faction game this morning and my invasion drop deck worked no problems. Now I join again with a different faction and my drop deck is invalid. But I have no clue what that means.

Do I need a separate drop deck for each faction war there is? That sounds like a money grab to me. I can't play my faction because the server decides what faction is activated so I have to pay real money to play faction play? ??? Or I have to wait until the server activates the faction I picked which means I have to wake up 2am just to play faction play????

I'm not sure I see the advantage to playing faction when I make 100,000 to 200,000 less cbill's per game. And when it works I have to wait longer just to play.

If you aligned with IS in faction play (currently Marik vs Kurita matches go) then you need a drop deck with IS exclusive mechs to play. If you play for clan then you need a clan exclusive drop deck. Actually you have two free decks if I remember correctly so fill one with IS mechs and the other with clan mechs and you should play any matches since you would have at least one proper deck for a faction available to play.

I prefer FP over other games because grants more freedom to play and offer a way higher challenge than mere QP. I play QP for two reasons: Won the event prize mechs and to test weapon-loadouts for mechs because QP is an active weapon testground. If you found a mech and it's loadout good enough you could bring that into FP and play for real against foes usually far-far better than you (usually tier 1-2) and see how your enemies and teammates play teach you more than 1000 QP matches.

Do not get me wrong, I am not the best player, sure. Often make my own mistakes because of natural aggressivity but in QPs I often see scary failures even I never even thought to try to done... Like stop with a Vulcan on the bottom of a slope and wait there firing while a KGC rush down with full speed on that slope... Guess, not the Vulcan won there but my King crab. Funny but such things you never see in FP. FP is the real MWO so it worth to invest your time and C-bills for drop decks and fitting mechs.

Wanna do FP? Only if you like challenges, playing against some of the best players out there! Posted Image

Before you invest in FP big time, strongly suggest you read up on Yondu Udonta's FP guides and peruse FP forums.
http://mwomercs.com/...tion-play-guide
http://mwomercs.com/...07-faction-play

Also view Yondude (Yondu Udon'ta's alias) in Youtube, specialising in FP MWO streaming:
www.youtube.com/c/yondude

It's a *major* endeavor to get properly equipped for FP, entailing almost mandatory MC usage.
Enough/suitable skilled-up mechs of the proper FP weapons layout, buy additional drop deck for Long/Medium range FP play, etc.

But ending upon the FP winning side is rewarding and fun!

(By the way, there is that rare Drop Deck sale on average once a year, but you really have to look for it).

Thank you for the replies but I don't get it. I filled up my invasion drop deck #2 with trial standard mechs and still it wont launch. I change my faction to steiner and nothing works, or to the "pink faction" and still nothing. I pledge to the wolf clan and that doesn't work either. I have no clue how to get faction play working.

I have 3 founder mech's. 2 atlases, asf d, asf l, and a centurion............... Then I have 3 clan mechs, a night gyr, a supernova, a arctic cheetah.

What they’re advising... Don’t mix clan mechs and non-clan mechs in one drop deck.

Each drop deck has to have 4 mechs assigned to it.
Clan drop deck total tonnage must be less or equal to 255 tons, IS drop deck may be max 265 tons.
Min tonnage is 160 tons.

All visible on the screen where you assign mechs to drop deck.

At the end, do not forget to select which drop deck you want to use (there is a tick "default drop deck").

Thank you vonjerg that did it. I didn't realize I had to enable one deck over the other.
