Anybody in higher tiers seeing different behavior? Or was the fearmongering about how better jump jets would Ruin Everything Forever just that?

Nope. Still "pop tarts" are mostly the ERPPC Veagles and Sad Cats with the occasional Huntsman thrown in.

It's been a couple of weeks-ish since the jump jet changes have landed. I find myself curious - has anyone noticed a vast resurgence of poptarting? I'll admit I've spent a goodly chunk of the last bit in the new Path of Exile league, but I've had me a couple of solid nights of MWO, and I'll say this - I didn't see duck dooky dicc-all for poptarts. Even the 'mechs with poptarty armaments weren't tarting pops with them. I've seen a few Pop Veags, but they tend to stick to the ground and poke around corners like nitwits rather than pop snipe.

There was practically no-one saying that the jump jet change would ruin everything (other than Khobai).

There were a few people advocating for significantly larger jump jet buffs and discussing ways that those could be balanced (things like locking weapons during a jump jet burn and for a half-second or so after releasing the button), which is what you may be thinking of. I don't think that there was anyone (other than Khobai) that thought that those kind of solutions would be necessary under Navid's proposal.

Well, I've been mounting the overwatch buildings on Mining a few times with my Direwolves. Feels about right in the amount of investment/gain!

+1 Agree
In fact, having just one jumpjet in your CT (BAS-A or DWF-C for example), and your assault mech actually can finally get to places never before.

~~Just wish that JumpJet on OmniMechs can be unequipped by the user though.

well, I have. there are a LOT of places my nightgyr gets easily to now; tested a bit on vitric forge: it is a very noticable difference, at least there.
I suspect you can get an assault to places it's never been before there, too. haven't bothered with testing that yet.

not sure how great the impact for QP is, since matches there are .. different.
Now, If only you could do some dmg, highlander-burial-like .. Posted Image

I certainly noticed the difference in my lights, you can now do some seriously huge jumps and easily get to places that you had a hard time with before. There's now a wider range of lights that can get much higher. It's a lot of fun!

That said, I haven't seen many people taking advantage of it. I think maybe the general de-emphasising of jump jets in builds has conditioned players to do without them a lot of the time.
