As someone who exclusively plays brawler builds in all weight classes I can tell you brawling is much more difficult than even 2 years ago - let alone during release days. After I came back in 2020 from a long break I wound up buying around 20-25 new mechs because the old staples were obsolete with the weapon changes and new mechs added to the game that vastly out perform older mechs.
There is much higher risk since even Medium mechs can carry a 70+ alpha now. FLD Alphas keep hitting harder and harder while mech survivability has stayed the same.
100% agree. brawling is absolutely way more difficult now than it was 2 years ago.
theres also way more risk and way less reward exactly like youre saying.
And yeah it mostly has to do with damage going up while mech survivability stayed the same. But also the effective ranges of PPFLD weapons have gone up too.
Cauldron just wont admit they screwed up brawling (probably on purpose so they could push this crap sniping meta on everyone). They screwed up streaks too. Still waiting for them to fix that. But thats one reason why 20 ton lights are tanking more firepower than brawler assaults right now which is so wrong.

Lol half... Sure thing.
I literally just played a game on tourmaline desert where the other team had three stealth thanatos on it, two with dual gauss and one with AC10s. Along with a x4 CERPPC Warhammer, a x2 CERPPC Shadowcat, and a Marauder with PPCs. And those were just the mechs whos loadouts I saw.
So dont tell me its not happening lmao.
Again i would love to see PGIs stats for what builds are getting used the most right now. Its not brawlers.
Its PPCs, Gauss, Lasers, and Ultra/Rotary Autocannons. Thats what people are running almost all the time now.
