I figured I'd ask since browsing the store is slow and inconvenient.

No, it is not. The Mechlab has no such function.

Well, pretty much "everything" is on the internet. But finding it ... Posted Image

If you really need such list, the best thing you can do is to create that list. Posted Image

Honestly, when it comes to MWO BattleMechs, the only important thing is the hardpoints layout. You can always buy different engines of various sizes and types, but you can not change hardpoints.

And all MWO OmniMechs come with Clan XL engine that can not be changed anyway.

Smurfy shows the stock engine type/size that the mech originally came with.
And you can use your browser to export into HTML file format, and import this into MS Excel to play around with:

http://mwo.smurfy-net.de

You can ask your browser to:
[File]>>[Save_As]>>[Save_As_HTML_Web-Page]
~This will save a smurfy.html file and [smurfy] folder onto your desktop.

Then use your MS Excel to open this HTML file (ie: smurfy.html) to import the webpage
Then in MS Excel [Save_As] to save it into *.XLS or *.XLSX file format.

Then you can format/sort mech by stock engine type/size.
(But honestly, I do not feel the need to sort by engine type/size).

Caveat: Smurfy is now becoming longer in the tooth by the month, as no updates for quite a long time now.

eg: Smurfy does not even show the newer MWO mechs:

Catapult CPLT-C2 (introduced concurrently with MW5) - not in the mech list

Warhammer WHM-9D (introduced concurrently with MW5) - not in the mech list

Marauder MAD-9M (introduced concurrently with MW5) - not in the mech list

King Crab KGC-001 (introduced concurrently with MW5) - not in the mech list

Thunderbolt TDR-10SE (new Stryker Booster Pack) - not in the mech list

Dragon DRG-1G (new IS Stryker Booster Pack) - not in the mech list

Timber Wolf TBR-BH (upcoming Clan Warden Booster Pack) - not in the mech list

Dire Wolf DWF-C (upcoming Clan Warden Booster Pack) - not in the mech list

Smurfy used to be my favorite site for designing 'Mech loadouts. I liked it more than MechDB.

But the lack of updates (Mechs, weapons data) has really made the site obsolete. It is sad because I really like the Smurfy's site layout.

Don't be snarky. The answer was that no such list exists, probably because so few people have ever needed one, but creating one yourself might be possible. The answer is truthful.

Let me rephrase the question:

Has anyone found a list of mech variants with stock engine information that is preferably sortable by stock engine?

And to the other points: this is irrelevant to searching for mechs with engines wanted to buy said engines at 50% off (and then sell the mech back)

As someone who also joined MWO last summer again and with no CBills to work with:
~Once you earn your 1st net 50 million CBills in your account (free "cash" as CBills in your account balance), you generally don't have to worry too much about CBills anymore. Play MWO properly to win the match with your Team, and your earnings will go up by at least 100k to 200k CBills per match win. Especially if you are still grinding out your first 25 cadet game bonuses!

ie:
~Just play MWO and discover your favorite playstyle (Heavy? Light? Assault? and avoid the Medium).
~Do you prefer ballistic or laser as your main weapons? Or missiles on Heavy/Medium?
~Do you prefer Inner Sphere mechs which are slower but more durable? Or Clan mechs (especially OmniMechs) which can feel more customizable and perhaps feel more fun to play with?
~After that, try to find three (3) favorite mechs to grind your monthly MWO Event, one of each for: ballistic, laser, and missile.
~Or: Buy a Hero outright with MC and/or real world cash if you really like to consistently play with, and it does help accelerate your MWO CBills economy! (Hint: Do not buy Champion mechs, which does not give you any CBills bonus!)

It really depends on your preferences and likes to answer above questions, and the future acquisition of mechs for your mechbay stable Posted Image

(Turning MWO into MechTrading Online is a brilliant idea, as I also like online virtual trading games too, as are pouring over data tables like Smurfy.net and MS Excel spreadsheets as I have already done. But from personal experience, you'll be better off in MWO by just playing MWO itself, and discovering your favorite playstyle, favorite mech class, favorite weapons class, and finally get that favorite 1st Hero mech!) ymmv

If you are looking for certain engine ratings, you just need to browse the chassis' that have a whole fraction of your desired engine rating as tonnage. Some engine ratings you'll never find on stockmechs, like the 295 or 310 for example.

Oh yeah, quite a few highly desirable engine ratings do not round to even walking/running ratios for any increment of 5 tons between mechs so they don't exist in stock designs.
