Brios put up a great explanation video when the PSR redo hit last year:

Ah but there is! It is a kind-of as this was mostly done via lobby science. There may be slight errors here/there but overall it's accurate.
There is a calc and other things in the spreadsheet. It was made when Paul was working on PSR and then dropped it like a hot potato so it was never realised.
Match Score Values
No dount some values will surprise people.
EG: A win does not count for as much match score as many believe and AMS gives way too much

I have not looked very hard, but I wonder if searching the forums would give us this answer. Mcgral18 made this post a few years ago: https://mwomercs.com...ed-for-science/
I built a linear regression model and, using the coefficients, I have a good idea of the values of each of the rewards. Multicollinearity is an issue for some of the rewards. For example: Killing Blow, KMDD, Solo Kill, Brawling, Savior Kill, and Defensive Kill all overlap some of the others in various ways.

There are so many issues, lol. "protected" bonuses are fairly high, & they are only available to lights & meds. Plus, hit & run, scouting, lance in formation, etc, are easier to achieve in faster mechs. I wonder if those are the keys to farming match score.
Wins are clearly undervalued. They could have just put a huge value on wins, & everything else would fall in line - at least over the long-term.
But, I can see their motivation for not putting too much value in 1 stat, especially a stat that depends highly on your teammates. The only problem with the current system is that they need to get these values right, or else it skews QP players' incentives away from playing a winning playstyle.

I cant remember if AMS was adjusted previously or not. I definitely know it was a hot-topic at the PSR reset time and that AMS (among other items) needed a rework. It is most assuredly too high.
Some things a bit more and some a bit less, I think the spreadsheet has some of that in there as a few people were playing around with things.
It is certainly an interesting topic as I think wins should stay as-is for the reason you outlined. Weighting them too heavily is a problem. The other is damage is too heavy and Solo/KMDD etc need an increase plus some others.
It is actually interesting as well played lights/fast meds can actually score. The issue is playing them isn't easy hence they are the overall worst performing weight class.

Those "steps" do not have to be of the same size. You can get the green arrow that represents 10-point move upwards, and then two red arrows with 1-point downwards move each.

If it is so simple, then how is it possible that some players have moved from Tier 5 or Tier 3 to Tier 1 since the Tier system reset?

After the reset, I have seen pilots (on Twitch) hide their tier level, and when they made it to T1, they started showing it. Took some a few days, some a few weeks. Some didn't care and staying where they are. Some went down to T4, to T5. Some just moved on else where (other games). I have noticed some made it to T1 after the reset, and now in T3. I am seeing the struggle. People are treating Tiers like a Ranking system, and some just play.

But you must admit that it is quite feasible to move to higher Tiers. So no "One Step forward (green arrow up), Two steps back (red arrow down on losing team)."

That is how I see it. Simple... "One step forward, two steps back". So, if you are in the side that been defeated. Better have done your job.

The evidence, formula et al. Clearly proves what you "see" is just plain wrong.
