Advanced Zoom Question

At the moment I have a side mouse button to toggle between my different zooms. The goal would be to add the Advanced Zoom after the three existing states. So I'd have four Zoom settings available on one button.
Any suggestions?

Also, I like to note that imho advanced zoom is kind of a waste in the skill tree. If you have enough podspace, go with a targeting computer instead and save the extra skill points for something more useful on your mech. I believe there is a delay with the advanced zoom function that causes a delay with real time tracking, and the fact that it is super blurry and pixelated doesn't help either for precision shooting.

Try this for mouse button toggling your Advanced Zoom (for example) with Mouse Button #3:
(ie: Press Mouse Button #3 for Advanced Zoom. Press Mouse Button #3 again for normal view.)
[Settings]>>[Keyboard]>>[Vision]>>[Toggle_Advanced_Zoom]>>[Alt_Key_Map]
~double-click this [Alt_Key_Map] with your left mouse button, then select Mouse Button #3 to set this for Advanced Zoom toggle.
Good luck!

Personally, I've set my [Toggle_Advanced_Zoom] to the "z" key.
Mouse buttons only for offensive firing for me

Hmmm... I normally use mouse button three for my "burst" weapons (mostly missiles) but that's a very cool idea.
I've been trying to bring my firing down to the two mouse keys at the expense of flexibility (and heat).
I think I'll have to bite the bullet and think about the best way to remap my controls - mostly just stripping some of them down. I have a Redragon half-keyboard I bought specifically for this game so I should start using it.
Thanks!

Part of the problem with the default keyboard keybind (to me) is that a lot of the keybind commands are on the RIGHT HAND SIDE of the keyboard, but your right hand is constantly using the mouse!
And specifically, one wrong press of keybind gets me killed: the "T"=[Global_Talk], which I tend to press by mistake more than I would like to admit (probably it's just me). Pressing this default "T" activates the "Chat" dialogue box, and all subsequent key presses are treated as typing a conversation, meaning that your mech gets no keyboard control, at least until you press [Escape] or [Enter]. If I have had the presence of mind to press Esc/Enter in the first place, then I would not have pressed "T", right?
Once I've done the above (and taken careful notes to document what I did), it's much less of a struggle to play MWO

Wait until you have only14" screen then advanced zoom become verrry helpful for any ER/Gauss rounds you have. Trust me 3 yrs of playing tell me this

A TC1 does not give you anywhere near the zoom that Advanced Zoom provides. Given it is also only 4 nodes out of the skill tree it is one of the most efficient things in the skill tree to actually get.
Now - when should you use Advanced Zoom?
I think if you are playing with weapons 700m+ then it offers great benefits. It absolutely makes for precision shooting, to say it does not is fundamentally wrong there. Pixelated or not you absolutely can target much more accurately if you have your mouse settings correct. There is no delay with tracking or anything like that. It is an issue that existed many, many years ago and was fixed waaay back then (5+).
Below 700m I find not much use for AdvZ.
As a side point I often spectate people that are using Med Pulse and AdvZ at 200m. They are waving their mouse around like a glow stick at a rave - which completely defeats the purpose of AdvZ. Even 400m it's dubious if you are anymore accurate and most players, aren't, and should remove AdvZ off their skills with short/mid range weapons.

Only if you pick the correct items in "Settings > Keyboard > Vision" which are labeled "Zoom In" & "Zoom Out" on that section's listing.

(For others' note, that means you put "Zoom In" with the "Mouse Wheel Up" control, and you put "Zoom Out" with the "Mouse Wheel Down" control. Otherwise, your personal Zoom controlling may end up feeling weird.)
