Hello,
Been playing MWO since Beta and have never had a problem launching it. Just got a new computer, and now I keep getting a popup saying Mechwarrior Online Has Stopped Working.
The portal opens fine, but when I hit play, a black screen window opens, and after a couple seconds, a popup saying Mechwarrior Online Has Stopped Working. Then another popup saying something stopped mechwarrior online from working correctly, and windows will close the programs and let me know if there is a solution. I click the close box, and everything closes out.
I’ve reinstalled multiple times through steam, and with just the portal client, and it does the same thing. Have used the repair tool every time to try and fix it as well, no change.
Anyone else run into this problem and find a solution?
I have an email to tech support, but figured I would check here as well.
Thanks in advance,
Turtlefish

Hi,
If you have an intel cpu 10th gen (or later), you could need to apply this fix (it's official and pinned in this forum):

PGI support was prompt and professional. This fixed me immediately:
Open “File Explorer” (Win+E), right-click on “This PC”, and select “Properties”
Select “Advanced System Settings”
Select “Environment Variables” in the “Advanced” tab
Select “New…” under “System variables”
Input the text below and select “OK”
Variable name: OPENSSL_ia32cap
Variable value: ~0x200000200000000
Confirm that the variable has been added successfully, then select “OK”
Also Mcvaad, thank you for the feedback. I was fixed up before I saw your response, but have bookmarked it for future reference.

The mods will likely need to modify the subject line - Adding MWO stops working / Crashing when hitting Play - in front of the Fix for Intel 10 + part...
I mean, most of the posts rarely have system information in it, thus players may not understand their full system setup.. What is an 10th generation + intel cpu? A computer is a computer.. doh !!!
But at least he emailed tech support, most don't..

Didn't have time to neckbeard my way through all the forum posts looking for a thread that wasn't labelled with what my issue was.
Did have time to make one post here with the issue labelled properly, and to email support.
