It all started... with the Warhammer 6R.

I know where you're coming from, but you just have to set apart "Lore, TT and how things should be" and "MWO, and how things are here". Took me a while for that too when I started out; I was shocked to see an srm-bomb-griffin back then for starters (only to realise later that it's bloody good at it, or was at that time).

just try to view mwo & battletech as two different games that just share the aesthetics, optimise your builds for mwo, and you'll have a better time ingame.
and remember to meet up with friends, throw a few dice on hexfield-maps and celebrate how things are in the offline-world. beers entirely optional. Posted Image

honestly i just wish people would have more fun with builds instead of concentrating on "meta". if more people just had fun with it i think the game would be more fun for everyone. its why i never even contemplated going into Comp drops (though now i have no choice but to drop with those folks because they mashed group and comp play into QP.)

the 6R can do a good bit if you just think outside the meta box. you'll have more fun that way.

(on a side note it would be funny if you could use the Spotlight on the left shoulder to blind an enemy like you can in TT (or at least the way my group ruled it) but that could be abused)

The key to the WHM-6R is its 6x energy hardpoints, giving it extreme versatility!

2x ballistic hardpoints in each torso, and 1x missile hardpoint in RT.
Let's be honest, with IS weapons so heavy, you'll need to specialise in 1 of the 3 areas.

2x Ballistic? Go for the biggest you can get, and you still have 6x energy hardpoints!

Missile in RT? You can still get ballistic LT. Still have space for 6x energy lasers!

PPC? You can still have space in LT/RT for other lighter weapons, or use it as DHS cooling area!

Imagine the possibilities :)

(pic removed for space)

But even in the '80s when that was made it did things wrong and against lore like that picture, looks like a PPC firing out of the torso. I tried telling the Anti-Lore freaks this for years, they just do not listen, the board game broke lore back when the game started in several ways.

Would never work. People define fun in different ways, been that way in gaming since before the internet existed and has carried over to video gaming. This is one of the reasons people have always played in different groups.

Competitive people in one group, 'fun' people in another and there is no one universal 'fun' group for everyone since the definition of 'fun' is different for people. I knew people who played for fun who would never go for your spotlight rule for example.

This is also why most other games have separate Ranked and Casual queues yet even the Casuals get toxic because your get a group of randoms together who define fun differently.

Yup, this was a case of the artist being given direction but not QUITE enough direction. He drew a destroid Tomahawk as instructed and for some reason made an energy zap fire out of the 180mm torso mounted mortar... which the battletech Warhammer did not even have.

ROFL, artists do weird stuff alright.
Look in the news for what the Danish artist Jens Haaning just did.

Try these:
2 UAC 10 2 LPCC

2 LG 2 ERPPC

AC20 3 SNPPC

2 GR 6 ERML (I gave LFE for survivability, but XL works too)

Light engine, 2 rac5, 6 spl, streak 4, firepower of 141. If you can get close enough for the small pulse it melts assault in seconds.
