I recently got back to MWO, briefly, about just 5 games. While I am not exactly one of those top dog to know and appreciate the nuances of the changes and of the meta game, what I appreciate is the fact that you can now put AC20 on an urbie with enough ammunition (36 shots = 720 Damage), with max armor and 98 KPH -- in short, not a joke.

This is also my first brush of the new maps, HPG seems to me fully embraced wall-sniping that's there's a ******* ramp there now. I used a Gauss Urbie -- which isn't also a joke anymore, but I find that the velocity isn't really suited at such distance -- but that's just me.

The UAC20 on Urbie could use +25% more ammo/ton though if it were to be more serious -- yeah it's powerful but the AC20 vs UAC20 is already at least mechanically different because one is 20 PPFLD, the other is 3-round burst. I struggle to put 1.5 tons of ammo (81 shells) with still acceptable speed but already shaven armor, and it's not the tonnage but the slots that has to be consumed by FFA + ENDO, DHS is also not necessary that makes this possible. But that's just more icing on already good icing, I think it's okay as is.

I noticed that there's still the same spawn points in the maps, like the one in Forest Colony (New), I'm still waiting for that plan of dropping everyone together than in three separate lances, and in more randomized parts of the maps to diversify the encounter zones.

All in all, I think MWO as I got back now, is okay. There's still the nascar problem that happens, less so on the new maps which I think what just happens when people finally know the twists and turns that which is inevitably relearned.

Anyways, that's just my thought.

Back to MW5 to maximize my time, because the new DLC will ruin the mods.

I ran a lot of AC20 Urbanmech before this patch. The only way I managed it was a Light 100 engine at 54 kph which wasn't terrible since you could keep a decent amount of armor and 4 tons of ammo. It's nice that you now have some extra tonnage to either bump up the engine size or add some lasers or jumpjets.

The engine and heatsink situation for light mechs isn't great though which still limits options on things like the Urbanmech.

Hey, a warm welcome back to MWO!

And you're not the only one; yours truly came back last summer (2020)!

Lots of shiny mechs to play with, maps, trying MWO Comp Team for the first time (just team for fun)... having a blast!

I'm not sure if specific ammo types can be buffed with quirks, but getting a specific AC20 ammo capacity quirk would be great for the Urbies. I doubt that the Cauldron would be willing to give more general ammo buffs to the Urbie since it would also help with machine gun builds (which are doing fine already), but if they can give AC20 ammo specifically a buff that would be great. It still wouldn't be a good build, but it would make a fun build even better.

I've had some success with a light 180, AC or LBX 10 and a few ER small lasers with maxed armour. Doesnt hit as hard as the 20 but does almost 110kph with tweaks and I'm tempted to try it with an XL engine since the tiny side torsos make engine downsides almost irrelevant.

Not worth dropping 1 ton of ammo and upping engine to 170? (+few armor points to legs that light ferro --> ferro gives.)

Sure, you can be fast with less ammo or slow with more ammo. Just don't ask to have it all.

I'd be more concerned about only having a third of the max armor on the legs than having a little more speed. At least dropping a half ton of ammo to have a little armor on the legs would be better in my opinion.

Yep super soft legs, but by doing what I asked in previous post you add 0,3 tons to legs :) yeah stil stick legs that get ripped off if someone aims anything at them but speed gives some options to pick where you fight... not having to show legs to fatties at least.

but yeah still super tight fit on that mech, JJ would be awesome, more armor would be awesome, more ammo would be nice, can't have them all.

I'd hide second ton of ammo to head, you probably get HSed every 1k match and what was the chance of ammo explosion, 10%? but lose leg way more often, and with just two tons of ammo that might be your last ton that goes with leg = no more bullets = no more fun.

a lot of my urbie builds use std heat sinks, its more than adequate to keep an ac20 build cool. my mrm40 build runs them and i can manage the heat just fine. i only really run dhs on urbies packing energy weapons as its primary loadout. ammo quirks help, but i think in a lot of cases people will just be using them to get more ammo, rather than lighten the amount of ammo they use and apply the tonnage elsewhere.

on mechs with space, dhs seems like a free upgrade but when you have to find room for 5 or 6 dhs, you end up having to run standard armor or standard structure to have room, and the loss in tonnage as a result is worse than having to stack up on cool shots.

incidentally the uac20 raven is somewhat improved, or you can go old skool, faster and cooler with this.
