I would buy Dire Wolf DWF-Prime(I) and the entire Clan Wave I & Clan Wave II, if only Dire Wolf DWF-Prime(I) has the ECM in its CT. Just like Blood Asp BAS-A vs BAS-B with the ECM in CT, one with JumpJet, and the other without. (I like the MDD-Prime(I) too, but I digress...)
DWF-Prime(I) with ECM & no JJ. DWF-C with ECM and JJ.
DWF-C also has +armor bonus to its CT, as does DWF-Prime.
I myself will probably swap in other torso parts into DWF-Prime so that it loses its Set-of-8 bonus anyways.
I do not like the constraining style of all weapons in its arms style of DWF-Prime anyways.

It got ECM erroneously for two months because of a malf-up with the Warden pack.
Now it's back to the way it's been for ~7 years.
Was this really not foreseen by anybody?
Y'all knew the bug was gonna get patched. it was on their Known Issues page. I even posted about it in the patch before last, and Mark Nicholson confirmed directly that it was still a bug and still getting fix'd.
This should not have come as a surprise to literally anyone.

My IV-4 was MC.

P.S. I got an Ultra-Violet for half price, so I'll just forget about it and move on.

Besides, it does not mount on in TT anyway.

As others have said, you can probably file a ticket. MWO support is usually very understanding of these things.

If you insist on the ECM, simply buy the ecm-variant when it's out for CBills (is it yet?).

It was listed as a known bug in the patch notes when it happened, and again in the month after when the issue persisted, as well as clearly labeled as such in multiple forum threads here at the time.
We apologize for the lack of clarity regarding September's patch notes where it was listed in with other mech changes instead of bugfixes, where it always should have been.

Apparently, this is one where I am out of the loop. What happened with the ECM equipment which I happen to have totally not noticed?

The patch transfered some of the effect of the ECM skill nodes to the base equipment itself which was supposed to be a buff, but turns out what was edited was just the numbers that are displayed in the mechlab and the actual ECM functionality is hardcoded and remains pre-patch levels.
So ECM base functionality stayed the same while skill nodes became weaker. What was supposed to happen was for the base stats to be buffed at the same time.

True. Also, the 'DC' originally stood for 'Dual Cockpit' and was listed as such before the changes made by the line developers. Now, they are considered merged into Command Consoles per latest TT rules. They are NOT the same things, however. A DC allowed for a Pilot and a Gunner, each using their own skills separately, to operate the mech. A CC was a second complete cockpit, but also has extra command, control and comms (C3) features to allow for field command at the Battalion level and higher. Basically, the Major in charge of the Battalion can ride along and command from the front, and if their Pilot gets taken out, they can even take over and drive the mech themselves.
Now... imagine if we could have a 13th team member riding along in a Command Console, using the Battlegrid to manage their Team using the all of those nifty tools that PGI spent the time and effort putting in? Could make FW fun again, for sure.
