Daeron is one of the few who genuinely who voices out the opinions of players back to PGI.
Witness how we got the April'2020 Cauldron patches... it was because of player feedback in March'2020...
So Daeron (and Matt) decided to stick out their necks, took risks, and (imho: correctly) brings in Cauldron for MWO game balancing.

You're right that Daeron had a goal to play in getting the Cauldron patches in the game and I'm not doubting or diminishing that but that was a year ago? I don't think its right to defend his inactivity based on something he had a hand in last year, I can understand that he might be busy behind the scenes with stuff that the playerbase wouldn't know about but he's meant to be the person who interacts with the community and should at the very least post and give reasoning.

and a rabid fanbase which has a tendency to turn on the CM at the slightest hint that CM might be unable to deliver what the fanbase wants....

You're right, Daeron is just doing a 5D chess move. If he posts never news about where PGI is at with the roadmap no one can ever get annoyed if they're behind on it.

Thanks to Thorqemada for the notes. Saved me a lot of time.

As for the situation with Daeron, I will point out that we had the similar situation with the last community manager. Two people, similar situation, same management. Not defending the lack of interaction, but felling a bit of deja vu. Maybe someone is suppressing what they can/could share. He has seen these posts, let's see how he reacts.

I regard to communication Russ made the Townhalls and Twitter comments - that was allways his way.
Now with EG7 the owner he is probably no longer on the situation to be able to share his thoughts so freely...

The Community Managers were usually more in a Beast of Burden role doing anything they were tasked to do instead of managing the community which often made one percive this as task they had to handle in their off hours...

Not ideal - not terrible...

I remember posting a comment where I disliked the changes on HPG Manifold on a NoGutsNoGalaxy patch notes review video (after the map was released mind you), and made the suggestion of keeping old maps to make the player base happy. Instead of giving a generic PR response like "I'm sorry that you dislike the changes, but we will take your ideas into consideration", what he literally said was "That's just like your opinion man" which was extremely unprofessional. Look, I'm not here to bash anyone but that is a great way to piss off your remaining player base if this company cares about making money.

To me the positive is that they now make new maps based on FP maps so i guess that will increase the variety of maps available in QP without taking away -> a net gain instead of a zero-zero trade!

Imagine learning in a random podcast video about what's going on in MWO instead of getting an announcement post....

Guess we're still in separate boats huh?

@PGI

Dude. Cry-Engine is old and crusty at this point, and the biggest problem there is that the lot of you can't do jack **** on it anymore. Like where is Crit-Splitting? Where is Ammo Switching? Its in Unreal, it's on MW5 where MagnumGB did that for you. If you can somehow code new features in Cry like those said previously, I honestly don't have an issue.

And about Solaris. Make Quick-Play Solaris with Duncan Fisher narrating the play by play, not the grumpy clansman or the professional IS Jackass.

Duncan Fisher is a must for every successful Solaris integration!

Though i guess the work would not stop there, Mech Divisons need to go and duel combat scenarios need to be defined.

And a beat a Dev in a Solaris match event could be quite attractive i guess...

At least as good bye event when they fade it out.

Its not the community managers faults its the staff above them that are to blame.

typical PGI-move, eh?
burn lots of money to hammer that mode in, completely side-lining what people actually want..
then scrapping it rather than to admit sh*tty-implementation and trying to fix the sh*t.
so sad.

though that's on the 'higher up'-management, not on the community manager.

They need to upgrade to cry 5 and ditch cry 3 (what the game is on), surely there will be programmers who can code in there or at least teach peep to code on the engine since you can download it for free now.

No Cryengine Update will happen - engine is modified to heavily and the amount of work needed to be done is akin to move the game to UE5.

Honestly, I prefer UE4 because they already have MW5 on UE4, that seems to me that it's less work = better chance of being done. MW5 is graphically competent and good performance as well, of course you need mods for best experience like MercTech or YAML.

Lets be realistic Under 4 years of licence..

Well if they started swapping engines now, it would be ready by hmm end on licence, or so close, to it wouldn't be worth the cost in staff hours.. I guess, going by how long other projects have taken.

Only way this gaes ever getting swapped is if a deal for another five years by end of 2022 happens,

Future of PGI:
- PGI have Mechwarrior license in 4 years.
- Currently, no exact statement about PGI gonna be renew Mechwarrior license.
- Need large investment to renew Mechwarrior license.

Not sure why they wouldn't get the license, its not like anyone else is using it.
