Always baffling how it's too much work to read the patch notes.

Wow, the new Stalker STK-7D from the Hunter Booster Pack is pretty nasty...
I was on the receiving end of its laser vomit x2, and died, after underestimating this weakened foe

Not sure I'll enjoy it's play style but I'm supporting the effort the artist made and hope to see more of it. Nice survivalist theme that adds scale to the model and helps suspend disbelief a few increments in a positive direction.

Beam Spam McMuppet, having run it for a chunk of games last night, honestly plays like a hybrid of Sphere brawly nonsense and the Clan laservomit playstyle. ~72kph on a friggin Stalker is intensely quick for Sphere Fatbros, and while the burn isn't as powerful as premier Clan laservomit builds and has a much shorter range, it's also more focused and doesn't heatcap you after one burn. On cold maps this thing gets two consecutive full burns on cooldown before heatcapping, and even on hot maps the three large pulse lasers are the very next best thing to heat-neutral.
If you do the usual MWO thing and spend sixty skill points in Firepower to absolutely max out Heat Gen instead of spending twenty-four in Mobility to improve the 'Mech's torso agility and overall movement alongside the usual armor and Operations investments, you might be able to get the LPLs down to heat-neutral on all but the hottest maps. I wouldn't bother, though. They're close enough that you'll either win a facebrawl or be dead before the lasers heatcap you anyways, and having that extra damage in the tank from the hex-set of ERMLs gives you a nasty alpha burn for Sphere stuff. I've been honestly surprised at how fun this sucker is to run and how well it does for me, given my usual focus on medium or fast heavy Clan junk. Normally Sphere assault 'Mechs are a great way for me to hate my night, but this Stalker is pretty slick.
Plus, I mean, come on. it just looks so cool with its camo-netting bolt-ons and survivalist's equipment slung off the back. Best job Piranha has done to date, by a long shot, of producing bolt-ons that actually enhance the visual appeal of a 'Mech.

I've run the new Stalker a few times and so far my most successful build has been 8xMPL. I'm also messing around with some PPC builds to take advantage of the velocity quirk, haven't quite found the sweet spot yet.
If you like Stalkers, the -7D is worth a look and if you don't want to spend real $ it will eventually be out for c-bills.
I haven't a clue what to do with the PHX, I don't run them very often.
Good hunting,
CFC Conky

Played one game with it, 1500 damage, was decent. Misery is also more fun.
