Newcomer+ question here:

Is DPS for AC2 = UAC2 = RAC2 (Assuming that nothing ever jams) ?

Yeah, I know, UAC2 & RAC2 sometimes jams, but assuming that it never jams when repeatedly UAC2 double tap, and it never jams for continuously using RAC2, so is AC2 = UAC2 = RAC2 (Assuming that nothing ever jams) ?

AC 2.8 DPS
UAC 2 2.8 DPS WITHOUT double taps, cannot remember for a fact how much more UACs give you but more...
RAC2 6.6 DPS that is more than those ^.

MechDB doesn't give you UAC extra DPS because random I think but you can see something from this.

edit: You have actually played a lot more of quickplay than me since leaderboards came to this game.

Rac2 shoot 6 times
Rac5 shoot 5 times

Actually damage of rac2 is 1
Actually damage of rac5 is 2

UAc2 deals 2x damage when double tap but the next round is going to be a single shot.
We can say that uac2 deals 1,5 damage , there are ways to make uac shoot 3 in a row.
However the DPS benefit at 3 shots will not be taken into account as the cooldown will eat up the DPS

3 ac2 is better than a rac2 since it has better range and each bullet deals 2 damage

Things gets less worthwhile when stacking ballistics with uac2 and a medium pulse laser would likely do better.

According to mechDB RA2 has 350 ammo per ton and total damage of that ton 315 = 0.9 dmg per bullet
That 6.6 DPS requires some weird 7.333... bullets in second

And yes 3x AC3 are better than 1 RAC2 ofc, also weights 18 tons vs 8 tons.
but those combine pretty nicely 3xRAC2 3xAC2 ANH/KGC/MAL dakka dakka dakka.

AC2 beats them all imo if you can boat them 6-8.. Same with lbx2

depends what you are doing with them, all of them got their pros and cons
AC2 is cool running, easy to aim with massive range and no spread, but has worst burst DPS of them all.

assuming that nothing ever jams is a mistake. its better to look at jam performance over time and factor that into the dps numbers.

Look forward to no jam PTS or if they just increased the rate of fire or something like that. As long as they macro proof it.

Assuming they never jammed, UAC2 would have double the DPS and RAC2 more than triple.
However, as LordNothing said, it's far better to calculate with jams taken into account.

Not entire sure what's the proper formula for RACs, but for UACs I've got this note in my old training documents:

Average double-tap damage (ie burst damage) is calculated with the formula 2D-JD , where
  • D: Damage
  • J: Jam chance
Average cooldown is calculated with the formula C+ JU+NV-V, where
  • C: Cooldown
  • J: Jam chance
  • U: Jam duration
  • N: numFiring (number of individual projectiles per salvo)
  • V: Volleydelay (delay between the salvo’s projectiles)
Thus, a UAC’s DPS formula boils down to (2D-JD) / (C+ JU+NV-V)
  • NumFiring and Volleydelay are not trivially available in the in-game UI, you can use PGI’s API to determine them: https://mwomercs.com.../list/full.json
  • The formulas above do not account for jam duration reduction from the Skill Tree or the jam chance reduction quirks

12-16 damage a second is nothing to sneeze at imo. The only real issue is ammo.
