Greetings MechWarrior's
We wanted to send an update to our original announcement concerning the recent moderation of a team name referencing Transgender rights. Specifically, we would like to address our community regarding the application of the MWO Code of Conduct (CoC) as it relates to our own internal Diversity, Equity & Inclusion practices.
Lucky for us, Piranha Games has access to excellent resources, including; internal and external subject matter experts, documentation, and training for staff. We strive to ensure our moderation is as fair and inclusive as possible. To that end, we are in the process of conducting a review of our CoC, and will update as appropriate. When we finalize the update to the CoC we will make a new post on MWOMERCS.COM to highlight the changes
Our high-level goals are:
- Making allowances for inclusive pilot and team names
- Reviewing and potentially re-defining forum rules, and the application of those rules
- Providing more clarity on the definition of Chat Spamming
- Continuously iterating on what else can be done to support any and all vulnerable demographics
We also want you to know we are aware of on-going community behavior, moderation concerns, and questions. In-game chat moderation rules will remain – we want you to focus on the game and have fun!
We’d also like to take the time to thank everyone for their feedback and discussion surrounding this topic. We understand this is an important and sensitive subject for many. Your patience is very much appreciated while do the work to create a safer and more inclusive gameplay experience for everyone!
